Sept. 17 marked Constitution Day, the 231st anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

Congress mandates that students in our schools be taught about the Constitution on Constitution Day, or on a day in conjunction with the observance.

The nation celebrates Constitution Day on September 17—the day in 1787 that our Constitution was signed in Philadelphia. And, David Bruce Smith, co-founder of the Grateful American Book Prize, says it is particularly important that we continue to remind our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren about what the Constitution is all about.

Historically accurate books of fiction and nonfiction for middle school readers published between July 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018 are eligible for the $13,000 PRIZE. Two authors will also receive “Honorable Mention” acknowledgements of $500 each. Books that qualify can be submitted until July 31. No fees required.
