The +Khan Academy is teaming up with the College Board to provide free, open, first-in-class test prep for the new version of the SAT. This is a marked change from test prep that has historically been expensive and out of reach. Tell a high school student you know, and take a look! goo.gl/xPNb8K

Creativity as the new literacy. This is creativity in solving problems, creativity in engineering, sciences, policy, art, etc... This is something we need to figure out for the kids coming up in today's education system.

It's been a while since I've posted anything to the ol' blog.

I'm working with some friends on developing ideas to teach information literacy/media literacy to kids. I'm going to do my best to chronicle the process, ideas and resources that we come up with along the way.

Sweet. Someone needs to develop a plugin for an EPUB reader to feed this.

Technologically assisted speed reading.  Your eyes don't move; the words do. Various forms of this trick, known as Rapid Serial Visual Presentation  have been around for decades. This new tweak uses a constant red letter placement for greater ease of reading. I can do 600 wpm easily. I'd like to try a whole book this way. Has anyone done that?

I like Kickstarter, but I would much rather have access to Second Market.

Not too long after Benjamin was born I came across this video [http://bit.ly/kNGhOy]. I think it was around fathers day. Anyway, I loved the idea and immediately set up a Gmail account for our little guy. Since then, Summer and I have been sending him emails with letters, pictures, video, etc…
Sometimes we tell him about his day, sometimes we tell him about things that are important to us, sometimes we just say hi. It’s a digital time capsule and we hope it will be interesting to him at some point in his life.

Here is a letter I sent him recently about writing. http://peopleinpassing.com/2013/05/04/letters-to-benjamin/
