Watching neocons lament the future of NATO and the loss of their warmongering candidate in primaries is kind of fun.

We shouldn't use our first to defend the second. We should use the second.

"Gun-free zones presume the good intentions of those entering the zone. And the overwhelming majority have such good intentions. But for those who have bad intentions, gun-free zones turn schools and other locations into shooting galleries. The good people are unarmed, the evil person is armed."

+Jeffrey Hamby I'm absolutely convinced that there are people who would still close the door even after you warned them twenty times that their fingers were right in the jamb.

Ok. Go ahead, open the door for lawsuits against car manufacturers when one of their cars is involved in a DUI. Or knives, or anything else that could inadvertently be used to kill someone. You know why she wants it? Insurance companies. Because in order to comply with the requirement, you'd have to have insurance just to own a weapon. Lobby dollars at work.

Anybody remember what we were told as to the justification for directly participating in the overthrow of the Libyan leader? According to Obama, '"The core principle that has to be upheld here is that when the entire international community, almost unanimously, says there’s a potential humanitarian crisis about to take place … that we can’t simply stand by with empty words, that we have to take some sort of action,” Mr. Obama said at a joint news conference in Santiago with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera."

In short, the rest of the world said so.... Kind of undermines the story of the US being the leader of the free world doesn't it? SMH...

Fyi, there's no such thing as a gunshow loophole. We need to be re-educating people about this, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FREAKING EXIST!!! When you buy at a gunshow, you fill out the paperwork, pay for it, leave, and arrange to pick it up at a later date--following the standard waiting period and background check--from the physical location of the gun store. WAKE UP!! The only way you're walking out of a gunshow with a weapon is if you have a CCW!!

The anti-gun crowd would argue your point, John, if they visited some of the gun shows I've been to here in Florida. I've frequently seen people making deals in the parking lot or outside the facility. And some folks selling long guns will unload and secure them (so they can be carried into the show), then hang a "for sale" sign on it and carry it around, hoping to find an interested buyer.

Now we all know that this private sale has nothing to do with the gun show, since it's just a convenient way to find a large number of gun buyers in one place. And the law is silent on private transactions (as it should be). In fact, we knowledgeable folks know that the person you meet and deal with at a gun show is less likely to be a criminal, a nut or a domestic abuser, since they would never pass a background check from the dealers anyway. Which would make it stupid for them to shop at a gun show, right? Isn't someone without legal issues the kind of person to whom you want to sell your gun?

You and I and other smart gun owners know all this. To everyone else, it's a "loophole."

Government governs best that governs least.
Introduction
Freedom.  Life, Liberty, and Property.  Inalienable rights spelled out in our founding documents and within individual treatises penned by our Founding Fathers.  John Locke, in his Two Treatises of Government, describes the responsibility of government to provide necessary functions and to ultimately defend liberty.  Locke eloquently states that when a government ceases to carry out its obligation to the governed, the people have a right, a duty even, to dissolve the government and start anew.

Our country began in the name of Freedom.  Through the years, we may have drifted off course, but nothing has been done in the history of mankind that cannot be undone.  As Americans and patriots, it is our duty to demand the very best from our government, to salvage our freedom, and to guarantee for our children that which was promised to us when the Constitution was ratified.  Freedom.  Let it ring.
