Here's a little preview of Mr. Smolin's contribution to the upcoming 2nd Edition of Waywords and Meansigns: Recreating Finnegans Wake - in its Whole Wholume, to be released 2/2/16.

This instrumental solo-piano piece is accompaniment for the Mutt and Jute section of Finnegans Wake Chapter 1.

Voice has been removed to prolong and stoke the mystery.

Be sure to check out the whole thing starting on February 2, 2016 at www.waywordsandmeansigns.com

I am pleased to release this latest ditty from the warped minds of yours truly and Double Naught Spy Car, a sardonic tribute to my alma mater, Fairfax High School in Los Angeles CA, as it existed in the 1970s.

Featuring the musical talents of Paul Lacques, Marcus Watkins, Marc Doten, Joe Berardi, and Vince Meghrouni, as well as the angelic voices of Harvey Canter, Seth Kurland, Phoebe Smolin, and Gary Baseman, the song tries to capture the cultural zeitgeist of the campus at the corner of Melrose & Fairfax which was a breeding ground for so much creativity during the Gerald Ford/Jimmy Carter years.

Even if you're not a Fairfax alum, you will still be able to enjoy the wry musical references and other era-specific allusions, not to mention the churning boogie-groove of the band which will, most assuredly, make your body (and your booty) want to sway.

The best way to listen and purchase the single is through Bandcamp where the track can be yours for only $1.

Please go to the Bandcamp page and lay your ears on the gooey goodness (the lyrics are also there for you to read along with), and, if you are so moved, plunk down a buck and have it for your very own.

"Fairfax High School" is also available for download via the iTunes Music Store if that is your preferred venue.

I am pleased to announce the release of my latest book "Narcissus In The Dark," a new novella that explores the inner workings of human consciousness as it grapples with its place and purpose in the cosmos.

In this story, God, wrongly thinking himself to be invisible, is arrested for walking around the streets of West L.A. naked, though he is ultimately condemned by a tribunal of clerics not for public indecency but rather for the blasphemous belief in his own divinity. God is sentenced to eternal imprisonment in a dungeon and chooses to turn the utter darkness into a template for the creation of new universes by thinking them into being. In the course of his ruminations, various details from his own blurry past creep into his divine intentions, calling into question the nature of what he is, where he is, and who he is.

Sound depressing? It's not!

"Narcissus In The Dark" is a comedy (a 'divine' one at that), guaranteed to make you smirk, smile, groan, and maybe even see yourself reflected in God's inifinite mirror.

I hope a few of you will be curious enough to check out this latest emanation from the mind of Mr. Smolin.

Available at Amazon.com as a paperback book and also for Kindle.
