In 1950 Jim Jennings left North Wilkesboro, North Carolina at the age of 21 to go to work for the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company in Middle River, Maryland. As a machinist he developed the knack of working with precision equipment and instruments producing parts used in the aircraft that rolled out of the Middle River plant. During the next eight years, due to his abilities with precision machined parts, he was asked by fellow workers to help them work on their automatic transmissions. He developed a reputation as the "the guy to go to" if you needed help with an automatic transmission and eventually started a business while still working full time for Martins. His reputation and business grew rapidly and not only did his business become full-time but he hired two full-time employees. As luck would have it, Jim was invited to be the guest of Joe Eikenberg (owner of Aero Motors) for the 1958 opening of the Baltimore Orioles season. He took a rare day off because Joe told him there would be a lot of "car guys" there and it might be good for his business. As chance would have it he spent most of the day talking with the sales manager of AD Oldsmobile, Bill Kidd, who told him he was having a tough time with the transmission in a 1957 Packard. He told Jim if he could fix it he would never have to worry about having enough work. Jim came through and our family business has been doing transmission work for new car dealers in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County as well as Harford County since that day. Jims reputation for incredible honesty has been carried on by his sons Gary and Bill and his entire staff of 15.

My car recently required a new transmission. I was out of town for the week, but Ray kept me informed of the repairs via phone while I was gone, and they held on to my car for the rest of the week free of charge. My car functions perfectly, I am very happy with the repair. I'd also like to thank both Ray and Gary for their friendly, professional service. They both took the time as well to discuss my many questions in detail, and I appreciate their knowledge and patience.

I do not know where to start but I will make this long story short. My wife's 2007 Nissan Maxima broke down and I had it towed to a local dealership. A technician test drove it along with another technician from a Nissan dealership. All said and done the dealership service department said the transmission was shot and it would be several thousand dollars to repair or replace ($4200) with a rebuilt trans. Not very happy with the cost I had the car towed again to Jim Jennings Transmissions because I have used their services before many years ago and a friend reminded me of their great service. I spoke with Ray and he said the car would be test drove by one of his techs and that they would get back to me shortly. A few hours later I received a phone call from Ray. Here is what he said "Your transmission is definitely shot but there is some good news in all of this, your transmission is still covered under manufacturers warranty for 10 years or 120,000 miles whichever comes first." With all good conscience he felt that he and the technician should let me know. I was so excited and pleased with their honesty after all, it could have cost me $4200 that I didn't have to spend. I say "THANK YOU" for being honest and very professional!!!

Gary was so great here. My car was not wanting to move when my husband went to pull closer to the house for me. Then on the way to work it was still being strange. I called and asked if they could drive me to work if I dropped it off. They looked over everything for free for me and test drove it to drive me to work. Gary was giving me knowledge about the mechanics of a car that I didn't know. They did a small repair on my radiator hoses that were leaking and put 5 qts of transmission fluid in the car that's how low it was. All of this happened in less then 24 hours. The price was way less then I expected to hear and they are the best at customer service in todays age there are not to many honest and customer friendly business's out there but they are. I would recommend to anyone. My car is driving 100 times better now and I am happy about that.

Brought in my rebuilt transmission for servicing. Polite, prompt, immediately started work on my vehicle, finished when estimated, and was out the door in an hour. I would recommend this place to anyone.

For anyone who has concerns about their transmission, please do call Jim Jennings to make an appointment to have them take care of your car. And let me tell you my story. My car engine light was one three weeks ago and was fixed in a garage. However, I was told that it has a bad transmission and I should sell my car and get another car to avoid the big bill of transmission repair/replacement. But I love my car and really really don't want to lose it, and also, I didn't know exactly where went wrong with my car transmission that the garage didn't want to explain it to me. After doing some research online, I found JimJennings, and turns out it can't be more lucky that I found them. They tested my car transmission, both computer diagnosis and road test, and at the end they told me the transmission is in a good shape. They even contact with the garage I went to ask what problem they found, they want to make sure they didn't miss anything. I'm so respectful to their passion and profession. This company work for honor and work with honesty, they are sincere and willing to educate their customer.

First of all I'm a gearhead, having built many custom limousines and involved in other professional activities, I'm just too busy for working on family and friends vehicles. #1 FAMILY My sister goes to the AAMCO on Harford Road in Baltimore ( they deserve this flaming) convenient , about a half mile from her home. They give her a required list including Oxygen sensor, throttle position sensor and things that just didnt add up, other than a staggering total which wasnt do-able dollar wise. I told her " sis, if you want honest and fair see Gary at Jim Jennings" EVEN THOUGH she was female - honesty was still the M.O. after all these years. ( Gary did transmission work on several Rolls Royce limos that I had heavily modified and despite the typical "ride like a sport , pay like a sport " attitude OR you are a woman that most shops use when its estimate or final bill time, I always received fair billing with no surprises with the best quality workmanship and service anywhere. Back to my sister, so they did some minor work then adjusted the throttle position sensor and determined her Mazda did not need a oxygen sensor when they COULD HAVE BUT DIDINT, like most other shops -jumped on the incorrect AAMCO diagnosis of needing an O2 sensor and increased their sales revenue. #2 FRIEND My friend Maria who owns Cypriana an eatery downtown had what she though was a serious transmission problem on her company truck. Jim Jennings again honestly corrected the problem with a bill that shocked Maria, the right way. I've taken the time out of my busy schedule to write this review because folks like this DESERVE it as a way of me / us saying thanks for being good guys especially in this day and age of fraud, abuse and corruption. Some of you may remember my company Alexander Rolls Royce Limousines - if you saw a white Rolls or Black and Silver Bentley that might of been me taking you or your mom to the prom or to the wedding. My limos ran like clockwork and received ONLY ONE JJ transmission in their lifetime service of 400,000 plus miles. JJ is the real deal. You'll never regret the decision to become a lifetime customer ...ever! Alexander Karas

Aamco transmission destroyed my car and then voided my warranty and blamed it on valvoline bc I got my oil changed a couple days after the trans was fixed. I called him Jennings and told them what happen to me. Gary a manger there was so helpful , instead of telling me to come down and let him fix it he told me to not let Aamco rip me off. He was honest and so helpful he told me step by step what to do and kept calling me to check up and see my progress. I'm in the proses of going to court, when I get my settlement the first place I'm going to to fixture car is Jim Jennings just from experience over the phone I know there an honest business that really cares about there customers and there satisfaction , you can tell I mean look at there reviews 5 starts buy to me thts to low they deserve 10 stars
