One of my favourite places to eat in the US! I am from Australia, and it was a pleasure to find this local haunt. My hotel was down the road, so I kind of camped out here! Really nice family-style local restaurant. I have tried breakfast, lunch and dinner here. I tried the waffles with strawberries and cream for breakfast - huge portion and loaded with flavour. Turkey dinner is lovely. My favourite is the chicken fried steak. Just incredible, crunchy, tender - supremely delicious. The meals are great value as they come with soup or salad, bread or muffin, and potato or vegetables ... in addition to the massive meal! And oh wow the fresh pie! Also some of the best I have had in the US; crispy crust, delicious fruity insides. Yum! The ice-cream sundae is HUGE and so yummy. I had mine with hot fudge, and the staff were great about bringing me even more hot fudge (I like fudge). In terms of the service, I always got great service. I once even got some pie on the house, which was a lovely gesture. I have never had a problem with the food or the service here. If I wasn't in Australia, I would be there RIGHT NOW.

My first visit is definitely the last. Horrific service, Horrid management, food was exceptionally dry and flavor less. Unless you are almost in the grave, you won't get great service here. It's obvious they have their usual 70+ year old gusts and that's the way they like it. You younger than that, you will be waiting a while for service. Took forever to order, took even longer to get my check. Negative stars please. It should be replaced by a Denny's.

Stopped to eat here early morning on a weekday. Our server was very friendly and kept coming back over and over to check my if we wanted a refill or anything else ordered. They way they treated us was as if we where family and it was our 1st time there. Food was good, large portion and we ended taking home some of it. I can imagine at time it can get crowded and the quality of the services might decline but I think it comes with the territory... If you go on a Sunday morning you'll probably have to wait to be seated and your server might be running around.. I would definitely recommend to visit this place

I saw this place on KCET network & decided to go, since we live close by, food was excellent but service sucked. It made my family & feel like if we were not welcomed there but their regulars were. The only time I had a good server was during dinner, breakfast servers suck unless u r their regulars. I love their Turkey sandwich!!

Had an early breakfast here on a Saturday and really enjoyed my first time eating at the Tallyrand. Snagged a comfy booth and got the "Kings Omelet" - love the garlic-infused breakfast potatoes. Prompt and friendly service - coffee cups were always refilled promptly. They run a tight ship. Would definitely try again.

The most unpleasant dining experience and absolute worst wait staff ever! (except for Marti and Scandinavian Michelle). Been that way for years. Makes every meal unappetizing. The 2nd generation of family owners are nice enough, but disconnected and don't care who they hire, or keep on. The old bitter (cashier hostess) really needs to be put out to pasture. I come in a few times a year to see if things have changed and am always bummed, when I'm confronted with the same unpleasant experience. The wait staff are juvenile, rude, and so very condescending. They have remodeled the interior and it now looks like a Coco's.(yuk). The food is Denny's with a higher price tag. So disappointing. Was a great place 25 years ago. I hope when the place gets taken over some day by new owners who care about customers dining experience, they bring it back to its mid-century vibe, and hire more professional, courteous, wait staff. I bet the food will sure taste better.

Love this place. Love their chicken quesadilla appetizer, in love with their fresh sour dough bread! They have a great many with variety. Great place for home style food.

It was ok. Had breakfast but it was nothing special (pancakes tasted like they were straight from Sysco). It wasn't too busy, and service was fast and the staff was very attentive of our coffee needs!
