For years #digital marketers have struggled with this big problem: interest does not necessarily equal #intent to buy. In other words, consumers often search for information online about a product, or post about a brand on social media, without any plan to spend money. The motivations behind this behavior are many (curiosity, revisiting past purchases, etc.) but the result is usually the same for companies: lost time and revenue.
Due to these three major advancements it is possible to close the gap between interest and intent, at least online.

#Facebook remains the #socialmedia network with the biggest user base and most engaged members, according recent U.S. data from the Pew Research Center. Overall, 71% of Internet users in the United States are on Facebook, a proportion that has stayed the same since August 2013, according to the report.
Pew Research Center's Social Media Update was based on data from a survey conducted in September 2014 of 1,597 Internet users in the United States ages 18+.
