The Case Of The Frightened Lady: Monday 15 - Saturday 20 October

A NEW ADAPTATION BY
ANTONY LAMPARD

DIRECTED BY
ROY MARSDEN

When Inspector Tanner is called in to investigate a ruthless murder at Mark’s Priory, the grand ancestral home of the Lebanon family, he quickly discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. The household is controlled by the family physician, the footmen behave more like guests than servants and the secretary Isla is afraid for her life. As Tanner moves closer to the heart of the mystery he uncovers a shocking and closely guarded secret…

Building on the phenomenal decade long success of The Agatha Christie Company, which sold over two million tickets around the UK, comes a new thrilling chapter. Following this year’s acclaimed production of Ruth Rendell’s A Judgement in Stone, the Classic Thriller Company returns with a brand new adaption from the legendary “King of the detective thriller”, EDGAR WALLACE - the brains behind one of the most iconic films of all time, KING KONG.

Widely recognised as the most popular writer of the early 20th century, Edgar Wallace’s gripping page-turners are regarded as the bedrock of the modern thriller and The Case of the Frightened Lady remains one of his most celebrated works. Adapted for film several times, this is your chance to catch this chilling, captivating and complex thriller live on stage…

The Goon Show - Saturday 13 October

Apollo Theatre Company are a professional theatre company based in Guildford, Surrey, and aim to produce brand new productions of both classic and original plays.

Following our critically acclaimed 50th Anniversary Tour of Round the Horne we are excited to present another radio comedy classic live on stage.

In 1951 the landscape of British comedy changed dramatically when The Goon Show burst onto the airwaves of the BBC Home Service. Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and co. brought a brand of surreal chaotic humour unlike anything that had been heard before and revolutionised the way radio comedy was produced.

With its bizarre characters, fantastical plots and hilarious running jokes, The Goon Show captured the imagination of the British public and made household names of its three main stars, all of whom would go on to achieve fame across the globe. The show’s influence is still felt today with comedians like Eddie Izzard citing the show as a major influence.

We are proud to team up with Spike Milligan Productions to celebrate Spike’s centenary year by bringing this timeless comedy classic to the stage in the first major theatrical production of the show in its illustrious history.

Emerald Storm - Friday 2 November

Feel the immense power and thunderous rhythms of Irish dance brought soaring into the 21st century with this fresh take on the traditional.

With an exhilarating mix of original scores, our incredible dancers (Lord of The Dance, Riverdance, Ireland’s Call) invite you into their world - from traditional soft-shoe choreography to explosive Irish Tap routines and from the sensual fire of Salsa and the smooth coolness of Jazz to the prim precision of Ballroom.

World class vocalists and stunning live instrumentalists also perform classic songs such as Danny Boy, Carrickfergus and Shenandoah right through to more modern, contemporary acoustic music in the style of Ed Sheeran.

You’ll be taken on a journey to the Celtic Otherworld, a mythological Heaven. When sinister elements threaten the paradise, the Queen of the Otherworld calls upon mortals, Emerald Storm, to save the mythical land from destruction. This is dance, singing and music at its best.

Will Heaven be saved? Will the mortals succeed?

Emerald Storm will rise!

Jane Eyre: An Autobiography - Friday 2 November

Written and directed by Elton Townend Jones
Performed by Rebecca Vaughan

From the creators of Dalloway, The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe, Female Gothic, I, Elizabeth, The Diaries of Adam and Eve, Christmas Gothic, The Time Machine and Austen’s Women.

Struggling to think, live and love beyond the stifling expectations of duty, class and convention, governess Jane Eyre and Master Edward Rochester take a dark journey towards sensual and intellectual liberation. Told through Jane’s eyes, English literature’s most celebrated autobiographical novel shocked the Victorians, and Charlotte Bronte’s gothic subversion of fairy-tale romance is now distilled for the stage – under its full title – by writer/director Elton Townend Jones. Performer Rebecca Vaughan embodies everywoman Jane – and several other characters – in this intimate study of love’s realities.

Check out the production shots of our Community Musical - Once Upon a Mattress.

Twelve princesses have tried to win the hand of Prince Dauntless in marriage, but each has failed a rigourous and almost impossible test of their true royalty set by his mother, the Queen. Desperate to marry his Lady lover, Sir Harry finds princess number 13, Winnifred, who's test involves sleeping on a pea. Will Winnifred pass the test?

With a 1920's twist, sparkling with glitz and glamour and backed by a wonderful musical score, this hilarious, romantic, raucous and rollicking spin on the classic tale of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for many side-splitting moments.
