Starting anything from scratch can be challenging.  I've put a circle together here of users with less that a few thousand followers that are posting good content and hoping to get more interaction here on Google+!  I've personally checked out each included profile and recommend you help them really enjoy what this place has to offer :)
Oh - and to prove this has nothing to do with personal gain I am NOT included in the circle (but +Stu Stu Studio is just to keep an eye on things!)

May I ask you for a little favour? Since +Syuzanna Avetisyan is not on the photographers list I missed to add her to the circle. However she is already worlds number 1 she is to modest to show it, she really deserves to be added. She is of invaluable  importance to BTP! Please add her manual. Everybody should get what is deserved!

Official alphabetical list is here:

Review your photographers here with each 4 sample photos and a link to G+ profile and personal website:

Great circle coming soon from +Peter From!
NEW: In The Spotlight –– Announcement Post

It's time to show your fellow Google+ photographers some appreciation folks –– and I will provide you with the forum for exactly that; the brand new In The Spotlight circle.

What's the In The Spotlight circle?

It's a circle for my favorite photographers as well as yourself and your favorite people (it could be people you know or people you admire but never interacted with). It's the hottest circle yet here on Google+, a circle you definitely want to be a part of.

Who can participate?

Anybody. As long as the main focus lies on photography. It's neither a pro circle, nor an amateur dito. It's a circle for great and active people loving the art of photography.

How can I be a part of this?

It's very simple. Just read on.

1. You ask for inclusion in the comments (in which case you reshare this post) and/or you tag your favorite photographers here on Google+ in your comment. I will choose my favorites from the persons you tag and add them to the circle.

2. You can help spread the word by resharing this post if you want to. If you do, I will add you to the circle (as long as your main focus is photography in your feed). If you feel that you don't want to reshare this post, then you are still free to tag your favorite photographers in the comments.

That's it. Simple as that.

What else is there?

You guessed right, there is more. After the first edition of this circle has been shared, there will be an event where we all can get to know each other better and show off our work. The event will last a month and I will pick my favorite pictures and showcase them here in my feed.

When will you share the first edition of the circle then?

That will happen when I have 250 participants. Everybody will be notified when it's time to share the circle, don't you worry.

There will also be a couple of surprises along the path, so make sure that you don't miss out on this great opportunity to get more attention and exposure.

Good luck and cheers!

What's great about G+
A Special Thank You

Just For You

In the last few days I have gotten some amazing feedback and comments regarding my sharing new photographers I find here on G+!

I like to find new people and share them because I know that it is hard for new people to gain a following here.  So many of us have been here since the beta days where we all got to know each other so well, and we formed a wonderful tight knit group of photographers.  We were the lucky ones.

New photographers coming in now have to work a bit harder to get noticed and make new friends. (not saying that we didn't  work hard -we most definitely did - but it's slightly different now that so many of us are established)  Many people are not adding new people to their circles because they are either full, or more than likely, just don't often get the chance to see new people's work.

By noticing, circling and including these new people in our circles of friends, we give them a reason to post more often, and to keep coming back.

Our circles are like gardens.  We must take care to tend to our garden.   As people leave or become inactive they allow their streams to dry and wither up and to keep our own streams alive we must feed it with new seeds of friendship and interesting things.

It's a win - win situation for all of us!  ;)

The way I find these new people?  Well, I wish I could take all the credit for it, but I can't . Many of them find me first, and I just happen to notice them in my notifications so I check them out.  Or they talk to me in my posts so I check them out. Or I see them commenting in other people's posts so I check them out.  And I am so often blown away by their work, that I feel the need to share - particularly if their audience is very low.

When I came here I knew about 3 people, and I remember when I was included in my first big "circle share" and how exciting it was to watch the number of people go up who were interested in seeing my work.  And no, this is not about numbers - but about connections.  The chance to meet new people, make new friends, learn, share, and see the stuff we love to see!

By sharing new people, it's my way of giving back. They might not get 1000 new followers over night - but it makes me happy when I check back and see that 30 or 40 of my awesome friends have checked them out and added them.  And I know that those new people will be good to them - because they are so good to me!

So, this thank you is to YOU!!  My amazing friends who look at the pages I share, and make comments on the work they see, and add the ones you like to your circles.  It makes it all worth while, and my sharing would be nothing if I had no one to share it with.

So once again, I say thank you.

Now, go and watch your garden grow.  ;)

#gpluswow  from +Robin Griggs Wood!
What an amazing shot!!!
Sometimes I think we're alone.
Sometimes I think we're not.

In either case, the thought is staggering.

Nothing more #gpluswow  than the #plusonecollection2012  :)
ANNOUNCING PLUS ONE COLLECTION 2012 + Image Submission + Fundraising Campaign

Alright, let's do this thing! The publication of Plus One Collection 2012 is officially under way. Read on for details, watch the video, re-share it, and get on the train before it's too late.

Who can contribute a photograph for the book?

Anyone. Send us your best image you took in 2012 and it'll get published in one or in all forms - in print, in ebook, and in our online gallery.

What's the theme?

Same as last year - your best photograph you made in the year just ended, 2012.

How else can I help?

Re-share this post with your circles. Invite friends and family to participate. This is a photography community publication, and we want as many submissions as we can get. Everyone should hear about this. Remember to tag your posts with #PlusOneCollection2012

When is the deadline?

Image submission is open from now until January 16, 11:59pm California time. In other words, don't wait and send us your work today.

How do I submit my photograph?

All details and submission form is here -

Will we be able to see what's being submitted?

Yes. Once submissions start coming in, I will setup a +SmugMug gallery where you can see all that's being sent to us and you'll be able to find your image too.

How will the book get published?

The book will be printed and bound professionally through Oddi in Iceland. They're known for working with photographers and for their great quality of printing.

How can we afford a print run?

To afford the cost of publication, we launched a crowdsourcing campaign through Indiegogo ("Kickstarter" that allows charitable causes). There are all levels of contribution there, so take a look -

How do I pre-order a copy?

Just like last year, for limited time only, you can order Limited Edition of the book that will ship numbered, signed, and with a fine art print. The only way to order it this year is through Indiegogo campaign that will run through January. These copies will ship first and before book officially goes on sale. So again, don't wait and chip in today!

When will the book ship?

We're shooting for the same time frame as last year - so sometime in early spring.

What cause are we supporting this year?

We are very proud to have teamed up with the Kilgoris Project. In short, we will use any proceeds from the sale of the book and buy digital cameras for underpriveledged children in the school in Kenya. But it's a much bigger project than that. Please watch the video!

Who made this video?

We proud to be still working on +Andy Lee who made this video is our chief designer for everything pixel related.

Ivan, why are you not smiling in the video?

I'm Russian. We never do. But I'm always smiling inside.

Kmm. I still want to help.

Amazing shot!
New Beginnings

Some of my favorite sunsets were at Maui where +Lisa Donchak and I would walk down the coast line looking for an interesting looking spot to plant our tripods and sit side by side as we watched the sun dip below the horizon as we enjoyed the clouds who readily adding drama to the evening, the warm breeze that carried the smell of the tropical flowers and the sound of the crashing waves provided the perfect soundtrack to an evening in paradise.

High on my list of places to go back to soon.
