Same here, if contractors or service providers are not getting good reviews, they cannot blame you; they can only do better.

Excellent company - We pay a small monthly fee and in return we receive lots of leads. Very impressed with their customer service. There is always someone there to help with any questions or issues you may have. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to increase their calls to give HomeStars a try.

A very poorly managed company. We signed up with them and they locked us into a 1 year contract on a very expensive over $350 a month payment plan. You won't get any calls for business. They have these people called "success coaches" and they talk as if they are the best people in this world. They will B.S. their way when they talk to you about marketing. All they do is sugar talk and you get no business. They make all sorts of promises and deliver nothing! They are just full of scam artists who know nothing about real marketing but only to scam people. Stay away from them and don't pay them anything!

Hi Salomea, I'm very sorry to hear you didn't have a positive experience with us. Our priority in the Success Coach Team is to help you get a great return for your investment. I've searched our records and can't determine which company you represent. Please email me and I would be happy to do what I can to rectify this situation: sarah@homestars.com , Sarah Steele - Director of Customer Success.

I had the best customer service from Luisa and Patrick. They were being very patient and explained everything little details to me. I love my new furnace and the nest pro.

We joined the Homestars team a few years back and we have had an incredible experience so far. From the friendly staff to the knowledge based approach on how to bring your business to market and increase your online presence Homestars knows their industry quite well and they have an incredible amount of resources for their clients. Ashley is a great source of information and she works very hard as our success coach she is always bringing new and innovative ideas to us that fit our business model along side the Homestars development plan for Calgary Elite Roofing. Should you want to increase your level of brand awareness for your company and if you are ready for the level of increased consumer traffic that they assist you in achieving then Homestars is by far leading the charge against their industry competition. they are truly one of the best sources of knowledge for online presence and they have the level of drive to help your company succeed that any intuitive business CEO will recognize. Green Apple Landscaping, provided excellent service. I appreciated their attention to detail and trouble shooting any issues that came up while doing this major patio renovation. They were prompt, efficient and left the site spotless. The project was finished on time. Even though we lost a few days due to rain. Peter was always available as was the Foreman on the site. I also appeciated the creative input in solving a major issue with hiding recycling bins as there was very little space to work with. I would hire them again.

We had been a long-standing customer of HomStars, we even won best in class back in 2011. We do receive a consistent amount of leads via their webpage, however we have just had a very bad experience with them and we will be pulling our account momentarily. We recently received a bad review on our page to which was a job that did not belong to our company. When we addressed the issue and launched an investigation against the reviewer, HomeStars indicated that the reviewer would have to provide proof that this customer was a client of ours by way of forwarding an invoice, etc. I said - great, that's a non-issue as the customer will not be able to provide such documentation. The very next day we got a notification indicating that the review has been posted successfully and that our investigation failed. How can HomeStars justify reviewers posting reviews on a company that did not do the work? We were familiar with the case via an associated company and reported to HomeStars that this reviewer is simply trying to ruin our name in their place. We even provided the company name to HomeStars and they still failed to rightfully remove the post! We are now investigating both the reviewer and HomeStars for advertising defamatory and slanderous content on our otherwise successful page.

Hi Amanda, you are a valued paid member of HomeStars for many years now. Congratulations on winning the Best Of Award on the strength of your company's stellar reputation. We did perform an investigation into the review you mention and I understand the outcome is not what you were hoping for. Our Content Integrity Team ensures that reviews posted are from real customers that can write about their experience. As much as you are a valued member, we must be impartial when it comes to determining which reviews can be posted. I hope you can understand our position and I wish you continued success with your high rating on HomeStars.

Hi Paul, thank you for bringing this to our attention. My apologies that you seem to have been misinformed about our review policies. You can see in our many google+ reviews examples of paid members who receive negative reviews and that we don't bend the rules for them. Our paid memberships give you tools to leverage your reputation to help close more jobs, however it has not impact on what types of reviews you will receive, that is up to your customers. If you'd like to email me with details about who you spoke with at HomeStars I will ensure we address any possible communication issue on our end: sarah@homestars.com, Sarah Steele - Director of Customer Success.

I'd give Home Stars a 4.5. I'm a long-time user of Home Stars and they sent me this request: "As an experienced HomeStars user, would you mind taking a moment to write a quick review on our Google Business page?" I use homestars as part of my decision making process because I've been burned by a contractor before (took a deposit and ran) and no government agency helped. I think consumers need to be wary and smart. The challenge is that some unethical companies will get their friends to review them or create fake accounts to review that way - or even show photos from other contractors telling clients that this is their work. Fraudsters exist - a fact of life. You have to be aware that no company can fully exclude or weed out the poison. I look to people who post photos and have 3+ reviews on varied services. I think Home Stars is now doing a good job trying to identify and keep 'real' companies and clients. I've rated companies from a 1* to a 10* without any resistance/problems from home stars - and hope others can learn from my experiences. Once, I was asked by HS to provide proof of transaction with the company I reviewed - it was a great internal check/verification and I was happy to oblige. No company has ever asked me to review them - until this request from HS and I'm happy to give commendation to a process that is helping consumers. Thanks to those of you who share your honest experiences and photos on the site - you've helped me a great deal.
