Pepper seedlings ready for inoculation with myccorhizae and potting up to 4-inch pots.  I've got 20 varieties of peppers and chiles started.  Looking forward to lots of NuMex chiles, pequillos, pardons, and red and orange bells.  See http://www.grow-it-organically.com/growing-peppers.html for more on growing peppers.

If you're starting a garden for the first time, or know someone who is, this list of The Top 10 Mistakes Beginning Gardeners Make can save a lot of wasted time and effort.

When I taught the Local Sustainable Agriculture Field Practicum at Stanford University, I saw beginning gardeners repeat the same mistakes season after season.  Based on my own experience and after polling the most experienced gardeners I knew, I came up with this list common mistakes and their consequences.

Carrot seedbeds are often "clumpy".  While the seedlings are small, they can be carefully "pricked out" with a fork, and moved to thin clumps and fill in gaps.  See http://www.grow-it-organically.com/growing-carrots.html for more information.
