Next week on Thu/Fri we are planning a virtual mini-sprint for converting our remaining upstart-only packages to systemd. +James Hunt has written an excellent porting guide (thanks!), I updated and expanded that a bit today. For everyone who wants to participate it would be good if you could read through it and bring up questions and clarifications before we start the sprint, so that we can progress smoothly in a highly parallel fashion.
Great, where do we sign to participate ? ;-)
(joke aside I guess there is some need for coordination through IRC channel, maybe a pad or similar ?)Jan 9, 2015

+Sebastien Bacher , I figure we'll send an announcement on Mon or Tue at the latest with the details. I'll talk to +Steve Langasek before about the details.Jan 10, 2015
Are you planning to convert the session services like indicators?Jan 10, 2015
+Alistair Buxton , not yet. In the first step we will convert the system upstart services. Then the phone (system jobs), then the session. This has already taken long enough, doing everything at once won't help to finish anything quicker.Jan 10, 2015
The reason why I ask is because the upstart jobs for indicators cause us a lot of problems in Xubuntu - they restart the services multiple times for no reason due to the weird event based stuff. I would like to get rid of that stuff asap and replace it with dbus activation via systemd. Dbus activation always worked fine before all the indicators were converted to upstart.Jan 10, 2015
