I started with JavaScript just this year, and this article sums up my feeling rather well :-) I am still far from understanding everything we use in Cockpit.

Compared to the two hours it took me to understand Flask (for my previous web thing, http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com) it is a mouthful, although of course the projects are not comparable in complexity of course.

But I do hope that this whole JS ecosystem consolidates in a few years and we just still see the early evolutionary phase.

systemd 233 got released last night, with two metric tons of improvements and bug fixes: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/systemd-devel/2017-March/038419.html

Both Debian stretch and Ubuntu zesty are frozen, so I uploaded it to Debian experimental. But this was still tested with the same rigor as any of our other uploads, so please do give it a spin!

The main known issue with the hybrid cgroups hierarchy is that it will break Docker on Debian (I already uploaded the backported fix from upstream to Ubuntu zesty a few days ago). Otherwise, please let the Debian bug tracker know about regressions and problems!

Shortly past Valentine's day, udisks and storage finally went back together! ♥

This finally ends a long-standing forking and packaging confusion.

My #FOSDEM talk video about Ubuntu's distro CI is now available. I explain the motivation, technology, impact and the do-s and don't-s that we've learned over the years.

Many thanks to the FOSDEM organizers, it's been a great weekend again!

It's done, no more blog vulnerabilities!

Always install the latest version, they say. Use very long autogenerated passwords, they say. And yet my wordpress blog got hacked this morning. I purged/restored the complete database, changed the db user passwords and wordpress password, but there was no real hint in the logs what acually happend and thus how to defend against it in the future. I guess 2FA wouldn't be the worst thing to enable for wordpress?

Played 2 hours of basketball for the first time since mid-December (I was away the last few Wednesday evenings). I'm so dead. Feels so good!
