What I remember most about my parents is their parties. Every weekend, it seemed, we were celebrating something. We either had party to attend, a party to host, a picnic to go to or an amusement park to visit. All seemed fun and laughter in my eyes, even ...

Full disclosure: As a journalist, I strive to live up to superior ethics standards. If I befriend someone or "+1" something on Google +, it may not be because I actually am a friend to someone or like something. Instead it is something I do to keep track of the news cycle.
As the assistant editor for Random Lengths News, a community paper in San Pedro, Calif., I am well aware of the pressures of supervising writers and adhering to strict deadlines.
Beyond helping my editor with the daily duties such as writing, editing, proofing, and communicating and coordinating with our reporters, interns and office staff, I also have proved my initiative and management skills by pushing for a more prevalent online presence, establishing higher standards for grammar and style, and recruiting, supervising and mentoring interns and freelancers. In my time at the paper I’ve produced a writers’ style guide, as well as an employee manual.
As a recent graduate of an online masters of science degree in interactive media, I’m always looking to incorporate my academic knowledge in social media and media production at work.
My experience with multitasking and managing extends beyond Random Lengths News. Prior to my work at RLn, I freelanced for several publications and I briefly was the premiere editor for Clout Magazine, a niche product of the Long Beach Press Telegram. There, I managed 12 freelance writers and six photographers, planned and maintained a balanced operating budget, among other responsibilities.
I also was a community, city government and mobile (multimedia) journalist for the Reno Gazette-Journal, a Gannett newspaper, which serves more than 145,000 daily readers and 185,000 readers on Sunday.
I am fluent in English and Spanish. I have honed and shared with my readers my diverse cultural perspective that I’ve garnered through my unique family, which includes a cornucopia of ethnic, religious and human experiences.
I look forward to interacting with everyone in this social media space.
