Used to live around the corner from George's and had it lots but this clearly spoilt me lots as nowhere else is as good! Everything in there is amazing. I disagree with any review not 5* as this place is the best by far. Today I had a kebab and some chips and I wouldn't trust anywhere else to do a kebab as good and fresh. It all smells amazing and I generally don't eat from many chippies at all but being in London & a visit here is an absolute must. The staff are friendly and after 10 years there's still the same guys & we had a good catch-up. It's not pretentious nor overpriced. A kebab was £5 & even though I remember them being £3.50 about 12 years ago I didnt begrudge that for a good kebab with fresh salad which totally filled me up!

i have lived round portabella rd all my life ,20 years ago georges was very good ,big portions not a bad price but then around 1993 they just started going down hill and for twice the price,i have been back a few times since then and its always hit and miss one day its bad the next its alright,i went there last night and asked for a portion of chips and a pie the portion of chips was so small i thought they had given me a half portion and they looked like they had never seen the fryer they were that white and the pie was just luke warm and tasted stale,i really used to like georges and the staff but that was a long time ago and its changed for the worse,i have no clue why this crap chip shop has high reviews maybe its because they got a picture of jamie oliver on the wall but i would say keep well away its not all its cracked up to be ,and there are must better chip shops around like mr fish in queensway now they are real quality

Definitely NOT the best Fish&Chips in London, because the cod I ate wasn't fresh. However, Chips were really amazing and prices are lower than the average. The friend that was with me was also pleased by the lamb kebab he had... score: 7.5/10 (cod: 4/10; chips 9.5/10; kebab: 9/10)
