To retrofit an existing troublesome roof can be a rewarding experience for an erector. The existing roof which in most cases have leaked, or poured creating a nightmare for the building owner. Water pouring into a work area creates a very dangerous atmosphere. Wet floors, damp equipment, damp wiring, damaged machinery, mold and very unhappy workers. Some of the worst case scenarios are leaking motel rooms. Damaged furniture, carpet , and disgruntle guest. All this can cost a building owner greatly in lost equipment, work hours, or hospital bills from hurt employees. Retrofitting an existing leaking roof isn't really inexpensive compared to monies saved verse monies lost. Due to lost man hours, or damaged equipment. Retrofitting an eye sore can create a new look by increasing the roof slope, adding color, along with trims to give it a pleasing look. Retrofitting a motel, owners have reported a dramatic increase in business due to the newly remodeled look. Giving the customer a feel of comfort, and security. However one of the biggest reason for retrofitting is to increase the property value for a future sale of the property. With all of the advantages why would you not consider retrofitting your old eyesore dangerous, leaking roof?

I made a run over to Savannah yesterday. Most of the damage from the storm was centered on sign faces, fallen trees, and stick and brick residential buildings. The Pre-Engineered Steel buildings in the area held up really well. I checked on several of our buildings located in the worst hit areas by the storm. They were not damaged in any way. Along with Pre-Engineered Steel buildings used as residential homes resisted the high winds protecting the owners against the elements. Tree damage to homes seem to have been the majority of the damage to the area buildings. A tree falling on any building will be damaged no matter how well it is constructed. A few years ago in Mississippi as I visited the storm damaged area there, I went by some of our buildings to see how they had held up. One company was still operational, no power but operational. A piece of rake trim had blown off with a door pushed in. This only took a few minutes to correct. The building was still intact. The building owner commented when the next storm comes through this area I am headed to this building. It held up! There were wood structures lying on the ground some with bare slabs around our building. As a home owner which we constructed from a Pre-Engineered Steel Package. This makes me love my home all the more, constructed of a red iron roof package with conventional walls. It has held up to many storms, hail, and teen agers. If a home can withstand that it can hold up to anything. Adel Steel constructed it 28 years ago. It has withstood the test of time.
