Any time is the right time to think about whether you're prepared for a disaster. These apps can help you get information when you need it, and to be prepared in general. Disasters shouldn't be unexpected. Yes, they are rare, but they do happen.... Just make sure that you're ready.

This man says #notnormal #neverok #sorry

I can't even imagine who could do these things and moreover how difficult it must be to live with the memories.

I have to say that Ardbeg 10 is a wonderful example of a peated scotch whisky. A perfect choice on an almost-Autumn very blustery evening.

So I've got many decades ahead of me. At least if you measure likely longevity as predicted by the size of my whisky collection.

The doggie daycare business, where +Chester Tibbie spends one day per week, uploads pictures to their blog generally every day after they take the dogs home. I collect their photos that include Chester in this shared album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ziACuBgCGheTXkQ13 You can tell that he's happy there.

Today would have been my father's 82nd birthday. He passed away last December and not a day goes by that I don't think how much I miss him. I wish I had talked to him more often. Here's a picture of him and my Mom holding me when they were unbelievably young. I have about as much hair now as I did then. ;-)

The squirrel defense posture went to Defcon-1 this morning when +Chester Tibbie saw a black tree squirrel on the walk to the tram stop. Chester had not previously seen a squirrel in Zürich, and he liked it that way, #thankyouverymuch.

This is disgusting. Warning: Disturbing pictures of maimed elephant carcasses in this story.

I don't know who buys things made of ivory, but it is worth this level of destruction of life? Also, what's up with Botswana removing protection from their elephants. It's literally open season now.

This article captures so much of what is wrong with the world today. The government clearly doesn't work for the people. Banks surely love that student loan debt -- at about $1.5 trillion -- exceeds both auto debt and (I was shocked to read...) credit card debt. And the government creates a program that sounds good on the news but in reality is nearly impossible to navigate. Sigh.

Three weeks ago it was over 30°C on Saturday, which is pretty hot. The following weekend, it got down to 9°C overnight, which is what the temperature was on the subsequent Saturday morning. That, combined with the warm (23°C) lake water created waterspouts (water tornadoes). Since then it's been basically Fall. Of course, I now have a bad cold. 😷🤕🤢 It will pass.
