Saying goodbye (for now) to California with a 20-year-old "champagne". Yes, technically sparkling wine. 😎

Today I took time out of my crazy busy schedule for...really good beer: Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewing Company (http://russianriverbrewing.com/). This beer is not widely available. On many Thursdays, you can find it at St. John's Bar and Grill on Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale. Luckily, it was there today. I got to have one last lunch with +John McDole and two of the folks on his team.

Next stop, elsewhere. We turned in the keys to our Menlo Park apartment today, 4/20. Nothing significant about that date 🤣, other than that we had planned to do this on the 23rd but we're so tired of moving that we just wanted that part to be over. And it is...over. Now all that is left there are imprints in the carpet.

Memory is not just in our heads.

If you think of something you own and you want it, you find it based on its physical context -- what is it near. When you are moving, all of the context disappears. You know you have things but can't find them...even things you set aside to have with you are not in the usual place. You may not be able to see something because it's not where you expect it.

I'm feeling very much "under construction" lately. And that's a good thing. You're only finished when you're...finished.

If you want to try a very interesting and inexpensive single-malt, try Winter's Gold from Dalwhinnie. Really nice fruity notes with pepper and an unexpected gentle hint of smoke. And it's less than $45/bottle.

In order to have new beginnings, we have to endure difficult endings: Moving is painful. Soon we'll be saying goodbye to Menlo Park, CA. More news as it happens. 😆

I am looking forward to the next Star Wars movie (and the one after that...). This trailer looks interesting.

What companies don't let you easily cancel? Seems that subscription-oriented companies are the worst:

1) Newspaper (SF Chronicle)
2) Cable (Comcast)
3) DVR (TiVo)

You know, if you have a compelling service, at a good price, people won't want to cancel. But sometimes people need to cancel. Don't waste our time.
