Diablo III Patch 2.0.1
Blizzard seems to suddenly wake up and attempt to deliver content that players have been asking for. No, I'm not holding my breath here, but the announcement of World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor actually sparked some interest, although the bitter taste of Cataclysm is still fresh.

Diablo III didn't deserve much love either and the announcement of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls (RoS) didn't really excite, until Blizzard announced patch 2.0.1. The update is significant and addresses many of the issues that players have been complaining about. This sets a different stage for Reaper of Souls and could bring the game back to old glory.

The patch is currently available on the Public Test Realm and contains many of the changes that were announced as part of the expansion.

Shroud of the Avatar: Early Access Schedule
The game is not going to be released until sometime in 2014, but people who pre-ordered one of the beta access packages will be able to get a first look as early as next month. Content will be limited to just one city and and most features are still missing, but there will be updates every 1-2 months until the final release.

Shroud of the Avatar 3 Month Demo
This was posted a few weeks back on the official #portalarium  Youtube channel. After reading +John Rostowfske's comment regarding Ultima Online's open world approach, I decided to post it here as well.

Although #shroudoftheavatar  is still at a very early development stage,  the demo provides some insight into the crafting and questing systems. Most people here have been playing #ultimaonline  and will recognize many familiar concepts concepts.

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues
+Richard Garriott de Cayeux is finally back with a new project and I have to say, it looks really promising. Shroud off the Avatar could be the game we've been waiting for; if they pull it off it will bring back depth and detail that we haven't seen since  #ultimaonline . Check it out at their Kickstarter page and support the project. We contributed at Explorer and Royal Artisan levels.

Done with the past, just one more piece
Over 400 news posts from the original Serpentstone site have been re-posted  and there's still a few missing pieces like the War of the Sexes, but there's not going to be any old news posts. There is however one more short video that we took during Heroic Lich King on our quest to the Glory of the Icecrown Raider achievement. This was our regular Jagd/Whiplash 10 man group and the guy speaking at the end is Fluke.

The video is not particularly exciting and if you wonder why nobody speaks: This was the first successful heroic kill after 60+ failed attempts :).

From Bangladesh with Love - October 19, 2011
It was Sunday morning and I was getting ready to go to the gym, but figured I'd check Serpentstone quick. Instead of the familiar screen, a big black welcome logo informed politely that the site had been hacked by Bangledeshi hacker TiGER-M@TE. The damage was limited to a defacement attack and our hosting provider closed the leak later. We learned later that some 500,000 sites had been hit by the attack:

Since some some cleanup work had ot be done anyway, we figured this would also be a great opportunity to update some of the components and give Serpentstone a fresh look. The Arcade Games engine has been completely replaced, the forum has been upgraded and the gallery is running a new version as. We also removed the Stories & Poetry forum, World of Warcraft item linking and a few other items. For now, that's all the change we're going to apply, although the gallery will be removed as soon as a decent Flickr or Google Picasa integration becomes available.

Diablo III Release Date in 2012 - September 30, 2011
We've been waiting to get details on the Diablo III release date for quite some time. Finally, the public beta started a few weeks back. Not that we expected to get invited, but at least it was an indication that things are moving in the right direction. Blizzard doesn't usually give any indication as to when a game will be released until they feel it's ready. However, with all the youtube videos on gameplay etc. we started to get excited that the release would be this year. The statement below that was posted a few days ago put an end to our expectations. We now definitely know that the game will not be released before 2012. The following statement was posted on Battle.net a few days ago:

"We commonly use the term “soon” when referring to Blizzard releases, because we know that no matter how hard we’re working to reach a target, we’re not going to compromise and launch a game before it’s ready. For Diablo III, we were aiming to launch by the end of 2011. As we’re announcing globally today, our new target for the game is early 2012.

While this news might not be a complete surprise, I know that many of you were hopeful that Diablo III would ship this year. We were too. However, this week we pulled together people from all of the teams involved with the game to decide whether we felt it would be ready before the end of December, and we grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not. Ultimately, we feel that to deliver an awesome Diablo sequel that lives up to our expectations and yours as well, we should take a little more time and add further polish to a few different elements of the game.

The upside of today’s announcement is that we will be running the beta test longer than we initially planned, which will allow us to invite more of you who have opted in.

For those taking on the Diableard challenge, we salute you -- and now fear for your well-being and personal hygiene. We hereby issue an official reprieve to all Diableard participants, including Blizzard employees, if you want to trim or otherwise manage the lower half of your face. We’d still love to see your beardly achievements, and we look forward to seeing more of your efforts as we move into 2012, but not to the detriment of your workplaces and significant others.

Thank you everyone for your support and anticipation for Diablo III. We’re still moving ahead at full pace, and we’ll be keeping you fully informed of any news and developments here at Diablo3.com, including the specific release date when the time comes, so stay tuned.

~Mike Morhaime
