Regrettably, I'm going to have to second any and all comments about the bad customer service at Susie's. Simply put, the customer service is horrendous to the point that it ruins the experience of eating the food altogether. I can understand having a bad day. Really, I get it. I worked through college in the service industry, but you know what? There's no excuse for having an attitude when the customer is genuinely being nice and courteous to you. Why slam my food on the counter and say "here you go" and walk away? And it's not just me. Too many times I've witnessed the abuse of other customers. I can remember one episode in particular where a very nice older couple (the likes of which Susie's does not even deserve to serve) were having trouble deciding what to order...You know where this is going. It's one thing to treat a kid or young person like garbage, but an elder? Come on. Guess what Susie's? There's a food joint right across the street people like me who live in the neighborhood can go to instead (and I would hazard a guess that the majority of Susie's business DOES come from neighbors). Do yourself a favor and fix your internal issues before your business starts to suffer dearly for it. I would have no problem initiating a boycott. In a tight-knit neighborhood like this one, you really can't afford it.

When Suze's is good they are the best. When they miss the mark they are pretty dismal. Their french fries have been voted best in Chicago and when they don't overcook them they are the best, especially in an edible tortilla bowl with melted cheese. When their Itallian sausage is fresh it is the best, they use Makowski's Real Sausage, made in Chicago with just the right amount of spices. The problem is that many times the sausage is not fresh and is dried out and hard. Their Italian beef is also made by the same company and is delicious. 50+ flavors of shakes is cool, a couple of my favorites are the sunkist orange, the raspberry and the Chocolate Cherry. Open round the clock it is a great place to stop for late night quick meals. Even though the service is uneven, typically you are not going to be there long enough for it to matter. Bottom line is they could use some improvement on some if their items (IE their burgers) but it is worth checking out for the things that they do well.

Not a place for shakes. Butter pecan is horrible. No pecans, and it tastes like they used some kind of cheap caramel syrup. Strawberry, same thing, cheap fake syrup that doesn't even taste like strawberries. Chocolate sucked as well. It's fine if you go to Mac Donalds and pay a dollar, but for 4 dollars I expect much better.

This place used to be awesome, about four owners ago. Stopped by Susie's while having our car repaired across the street. Ordered a beef and sausage combo with sweet peppers and an order of fries. The fries are still very, very good. BUT, the peppers on the sandwich were cold, the beef was tasteless and the sausage tasted like it was cooked days ago in a pot of boiling water, not char broiled like it used to be. The bread was soggy and falling apart. Maybe the shakes are good as other reviewers recommend, so you could order fried and a shake, but don't eat here! Disgusting.

Get over here and order the Confused Chicken Sandwich. Nowhere else in Chicago can you order this sandwich. It's great sober...or drunk. Susie's is open 24/7. They have over 50 milkshakes. Try the German Chocolate Cake shake. Trust me.
