The U.S. Department of Labor expanded the list of products produced by child or forced labor. The list now includes 136 goods from 74 countries. The newly added items include garments from Bangladesh, textiles from Cambodia, Cotton from India, and palm oil from Malaysia. We have documented abuse of young girls and women sewing clothes in garment factories in Bangladesh or isolated female migrant workers from South Asia making clothing in Jordan. It has been two years since 112 workers were killed in a fire at the Tazreen Fashions garment factory in #Bangladesh . But so far, our of the 16 companies producing in the plant, only the Dutch retailer C&A and the Hong Kong-based group Li & Fung have pledged to pay compensation.
