Probably not as satisfying as hitting the real thing with a bat, but as close as most of us can ever get...

In response to Donald Trump's recent idiotic, racist comments about Mexico and its people, piñata maker Dalton Ramirez of border city Reynosa added a fun new character to his product line. "This pi...

Are you a girl who has survived domestic violence? If you or a girl you know is a survivor of domestic violence and is now thriving, why not submit a selfie to http://iamme-iamokay.tumblr.com? In partnership with Scottish Women's Aid for the International Day of the Girl, we're giving away an iTunes gift card. Let's put a face on domestic violence and end it together.
A self-portrait project to celebrate girl survivors of domestic abuse. Submit your self-portrait to...

Because hippos are the best!

Scientists at +UC Santa Barbara, +UC Berkeley and +Princeton University sample #water , #fish  and insects along the Ewaso Ng'iro River to find the importance of #hippo  dung as a #food  source for creatures in #African  rivers. With populations of #hippos  down 20 percent in recent decades, the work underscores the need for #conservation  work to protect the large beasts. More on the Environmental Monitor: http://www.fondriest.com/news/hippo-dung-revealed-as-important-food-source-in-african-rivers.htm
Researchers with UC Santa Barbara and Princeton University used chemical analysis techniques to find the importance of hippo dung to African river ecosystems.

I backed this a couple of weeks ago, because it sounds a bit different from everything else we have in our rather sizeable collection of board games. It's got a nifty theme, and is a pure co-op game that can also play solo.

They've only got a week left and have yet to hit funding (about $5.5k short as of posting), so if you're interested in co-op boardgames, and/or games you can play solo, check it out! I'd really like a copy of it, so you should help fund it so that I (and you!) can play it!
Fully cooperative tile-based exploration and resource management survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world for 1-6 players.

Forgot to take pics, but started off #TableTopDay early with some Android: Netrunner tonight. Tomorrow (around the Grand National), we'll play Tsuro, Cartagena, Lords of Waterdeep, and Robo Rally. Sadly (because of the Grand National), we won't be able to get to a FLGS. Doubly sad, since I crave both the SmashUp Geeks and Leader Wil.

President Jimmy Carter is a great humanitarian and all-around nice guy. Now he's solidifying himself as a feminist with his new book, A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence and Power, and has decided to dedicate his remaining years to educating the world about the crimes committed against women.
On Newshour Wednesday night, former President Jimmy Carter told Judy Woodruff that "the crimes against women and girls exceed almost anything that I have known in my lifetime as far as human rights abuses."
