This is a reasonable question as before defining criteria for dividing your subscribers, you need to collect data about your audience and find out what you can use for creating different groups. Here are some ideas on how to collect info for segmentation email marketing:

1. Manual activity monitoring. This is the possible but time-consuming approach. Still, if you have time and not many subscribers, you can try it.
2. Marketing tools. There are plenty of tools that can automatically collect the data and provide you with the information required for segmenting your lists and personalizing the messages.
3. Survey segmenting. You can send a short survey to your subscribers and then divide them into groups in accordance with their answers.
4. Previous defining of the group for a new subscriber. Using the knowledge about your previous subscribers, create some groups using different criteria. Then adjust your sign up form to sorting new ones into those groups.

Here are some general recommendations about sending such emails. They are aimed at teaching you to plan the correspondence in advance and deliver a few letters without looking annoying and needy.

1. Define the stage the buyer reached in the purchase process. You will be able to adjust your message to the customer when you know the reason the buying operation failed. Usually, it happens when the person misses some information, required for the shipping, or when your site shows the service fees.
2. The first email should be helpful. You must avoid being pushy, especially when you deliver email right after the customer left. So focus here on helping to complete the purchase. You can also ask for more info like what issues he has faced and provide the alternatives.
3. Add some sense of urgency in your second message. The second letter should be sent at least in 24 hours. Here you can inform the client that the cart can expire soon. This will help to create some sense of urgency.
4. In the third letter reveal some incentivizing offers. In some cases, it can be appropriate, but it is better to deliver it at least in 48 hours. This is to reduce risks being marked as spam. In this email, you can provide incentivizing offers like a discount (the most common choice) or something more interesting.
5. Abandoned cart email subject lines. Anytime you try to reach the customer, make sure that they will understand the reason you are writing to them. Subject lines, as we already know, are the most important thing in making the receiver open the email. So if your offer discount or just want to make a reminder, display it in your subject line:
“Complete your purchase now to get 15% off!”;
“Just a small reminder: your cart is waiting”;
“We are keeping your cart till your next visit”.

We have discussed the subject lines, but what about other parts of an email? Do we need to use smileys in subject lines? Yes! In fact, they can enhance the effect of your email body as well. Bellow, you will learn a few reasons you need to consider adding them to your messages.

1. They are laconic. Space-saving qualities are perfect in our age of mobile devices. It can replace the whole phrase and the meaning will still be clear. With limits in 30-40 character for subject lines emoji in email allows fitting in the larger sentence. You not only save space for extra word but also make your email downloading faster in case of using mobile data by the receiver.
2. Expressing emotions. Marketers often want to add some emotional shadow to their subject lines and the body of the letter. But there are not so many methods to do so. For instance, usage of Caps Lock can not only be annoying but also raise your chances to be marked as spam. Emoji, on the contrary, used wisely, are not annoying. They are not considered as a spam feature by detectors and allow making your message emotional enough without risks to be blocked.
3. Simplicity. One of the outstanding features of emojis is their easy usage. They are understandable even to children and almost every device or computer can visualize it. Smileys can be added to the text by copy/paste method or via implemented email editor.
4. Increasing open rates. This reason refers to the subject line section. People like something bright and friendly (in a wise way) and they more likely open the email with a happy face or some other nice picture. Moreover, it feels like something new. We all got used to the various subject lines and adding email emoji symbols to them can bring the sense of novelty in a way.
5. They are noticeable. Imagine how many new letters your subscribers may receive daily. Your task is to make your email noticeable to stand out of the crowd of similar letters from the inbox. Little images will definitely make your letter easier to spot. So you will raise your chances for higher open rates.

This week we will continue to talk about RFT😊

As far as we know that the purpose of the RFP is providing the information to the vendors about your needs, you have to plan everything well and make sure that the document contains the following components:

1. Specifying Your Need. The importance of this part is in saving your time and efforts as well as the time of the potential vendors. You will compose the exact definition of what kind of service you need and vendors will be able to compare this info with their abilities.
2. Preferable Way of Communication. Another thing you have to work on in the document is in what way the communication with vendors can be done. So they will be informed whether it is required to arrange the in-person presentation etc. This aspect also includes defining in your advertising request for proposal the key dates for the possible meeting, reports, and deadlines.
3. Criteria for Evaluating. The next piece of information you need to present to your vendors is part with criteria that will be used for evaluating the proposal. You also should mention any specific criteria that may affect your possible collaboration.

As soon as you now can imagine what an RFP in advertising is, we can discuss the purpose of this approach. To most of you, it is obvious: it enables you to pick the most suitable and competitively priced service or products. But the trick here is to make sure that vendors and suppliers will understand your goals and task in the right way. So the correctly written request for proposal covers the following aspects:
- providing of the business needs description – in this document, you can specify all the details considering the type of service you require, the timing of collaboration, budget aspects and so on;
- encouraging the competitiveness of the vendors – they are aware of the fact you will choose the most advantageous option, and their reaction on such conditions will help you to make conclusions considering their possible future work;
- enabling you to compare the services – you will receive examples of work or feedback from previous clients, that will also help with the decision;
- maintaining your budget – defining in the advertising RFPs the terms on which you want to receive the service will help you to stick to the particular pricing and evaluate the costs of the project.

This year marked the 40th anniversary of the first mass marketing email!
In 1978 Gary Thuerk, a marketer for Digital Equipment Corporation, sends the first electronic mail marketing blast, generating $13 million in sales. Early emails like this are rudimentary, text-based and lack personalization.
