Today is the 84th Anniversary of St. Julian's School. Each year we take this opportunity to celebrate this milestone with our students so that they understand the schools history and heritage. We are a school with 21st century focus but like any good long-standing school we have an eye on our past.

Alasdair Glasgow graduated from St.Julian's in 2013 and is now on a break between 2nd and 3rd of studying Geography at the University of Edinburgh.
He asked me to share his experience so far and his facebook and donation pages which follows:
" I am currently on a three-month long journey across Africa by bicycle, from the Ugandan capital, Kampala, to Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A friend from University will be joining me for half of the 4000 kilometre route across the African continent. Our trip will take us across Uganda, before dipping down into Rwanda and across into Tanzania where we will cycle along the shores of Lake Victoria. When we reach the very west of Tanzania, my friend will end his journey and I will catch the ferry across Lake Tanganyika to the DRC to complete the final leg of cycling to Ilebo, where I will then take a barge down the Kasai River to my final destination: Kinshasa
We will be raising money for Yole! Africa, a charity that works to empower youth through the arts in a region that has been rife with instability for decades. Yole! is based in Goma in the eastern DRC, an area which harboured thousands of Rwandan refugees during the 1994 genocide before acting as the stage for the deadliest conflict since World War II, the Congo civil war.
I am at the moment right across from Goma in Gisenyi, situated in the West of Rwanda and on Lake Kivu. I am resting having just contracted Malaria but will be back on the road towards Kigali in a couple of days time. I was thinking this would be something the St.Julian's Alumni would interested in. I have a Facebook page at this link: https://www.facebook.com/kinkam2016/ and a donation page at this one: https://www.givey.com/kinkam2016 . It would be great if you could share it to help with some fundraising! Big thank you, Alasdair Glasgow."
