Finally got a chance to hit up this famous pizza spot in NYC. The establishment is very small and doesn't accommodate too many people for standing room. They have a bench outside where you can sit and eat when the weather is decent. They also have a small ledge inside for you to stand and eat. This is a CASH ONLY Spot therefor come prepared. I ordered the margarita pizza and it was amazing and prepared with freshest ingredients. I wanted to try the crab pizza but the person working informed me it was imitation crab meat. My friends order the artichoke pizza and I tried some it. It was so cheesy and creamy. It convinced me to order a slice the next time. They have an area next door if you order an entire pie you are able to sit down and dine.

I currently live in the Tampa Bay area, but I'm no stranger to good pizza. Second only to Italy the best pizza in the world can be found in New York City. I speak from experience having lived in both Brooklyn and Queens and having indulged in more than my share of brick oven pizza. Family and I often find ourselves planning trips around restaurants that we'd like to visit when we go back to our hometown particularly those that air on Food Network. We planned a trip to queens over the summer and were determined to check this place out to see if it could live to New York's reputation for have some of the world's tastiest cheesiest pizza. The choice came down to Grimaldi's or Artichoke. While I was a intimately familiar with great pizza my kids had the misfortune of living the prepubescent and adolescent lives in the south where their best attempt at making a pie is comedic. Admittedly it wasn't much on the outside, which is to be expected a hole in the wall in Manhattan comes at a high premium and I suspect Artichoke is no exception. Let's just say that the tight quarters and meager accommodations would actually hurt the rating. Besides, we were there to eat pizza. There are dozens of other establishments that I could've chosen, but while we were home I wanted to give my kids a taste of the pizza in the city from the city. The pizza wasn't the best that I have ever had, but at least it met my expectations. While I could complain about the venue and the prices I won't because I'm reminded of exactly where we were. The rather large portion and authentic taste more than made up for the less than appealing cramped quarters. Experiences vary and I certainly don't want to deter anyone from the dinning experience, but I've had better. Nevertheless, I'll say this about Artichokes, good location, good pizza, good times.

This is my second visit to Artichoke, and it did not disappoint! You order at the counter and can eat outside on the benches. Just like before, I had one slice of the artichoke and one slice of the crab pizzas. Mm soo good! The crab pizza was creamy and thick. The artichoke slice was my favorite. Slices are huge, definitely can cut in half and share with someone.

awful pizza, bad wine, total tourist trap. it's clear that the only people to end up here are those who are looking for a nearby pizza place from the highline or chelsea piers.... but AVOID IT. their namesake pizza (artichoke and various cheeses) was quite possible the worst pizza i have ever had. we also ordered their stuffed artichoke and that was even worse: over-stuffed with breadcrumbs and garlic powder.

If you want pizza-pizza, get the margarita slice, it's great. The artichoke slice is even better, but don't expect it to be like any pizza you've had before. It's more artichoke soup-bread bowl than pizza, but that's a good thing. It's amazing. You'll also feel a lot better about paying $4.50 for a slice after you've eaten it--not only because it's good, but because now you're full. It's basically a meal. Bonus: they have Flagship Brewery beer on tap. The new Staten Island brewery is cranking out some of the city's best beer and Artichoke is one of the only places I know you can rely on having it.

The Artichoke slice….. MAN!!! First of all, the slice is huge. You can share it with another person. Second of all, the slice marries the flavors of artichoke hearts, spinach, cream sauce, mozzarella and pecorino romano cheese on this perfect little slice. The slice is so filling and so good. Don’t judge me but, this pizza is the best thing after a night of drink or just hanging out.

Great pizza but the worst, I swear seriously the worst, delivery of any place I've ever ordered from. Insanely, insanely late (2.5-3 hours), with messy, cold food. They obviously don't care about or can't handle delivery at all. And when you call they claim that it's just about to arrive even though it's 60-90 minutes away. Do yourself a favor and never order delivery from them.

This is my 2nd favorite slice of Artichoke Basille's Pizza. It is too good that people will line up for it for hours! It is small but has a seating area and the pizza here is usually amazing. I recommend the Artichoke slice here.
