Before your tenants move into your #rental #property, make sure you clean it thoroughly.

It seems like common sense to most, but I've arrived at properties on many occasion to find that kitchens haven't been cleaned, bathrooms are dirty and skirting boards are dusty and it's not unusual for me to put on the old marigolds with bleach in hand and have a quick clean before the tenants arrive.

Some think I am crazy (and no I'm not offering my cleaning services!), but I think it is important that a rental property is clean and tidy at the point of your tenants moving in. Cleaning is the last thing they want to do when moving furniture and their worldly possessions into their new home, plus they're paying good money to live there.

If you don't, your #landlord #tenant relationship could be affected negatively from the start and ongoing communication may be difficult, and they're unlikely to leave the property in a good clean state when they leave (why should they?!).

I'm not a big fan of cleaning, but channel your Miss Mop (Or Mr!) and clean your rental property well before your tenants move in. Honestly, it will make the tenancy a far smoother one. If you dislike it that much, or you just don't have the time, get the professionals in!
