From the Isle of Man. I like to travel a bit.
I stayed here as a hotel guest for two nights. There was a mix-up with my booking - I had booked two nights but they'd only reserved a room for one night. Fortunately it wasn't a problem. The room was pretty standard and with plenty of windows it was well lit with natural light. The pillows were extremely soft and had to be folded several times before I could sleep on them. The price of accommodation was extremely reasonable at CHF 90 per night compared to other hotels in downtown Bern at almost double that for less spectacular rooms. From my own experience and that of others, this would appear to be a very reasonably priced hotel and it's easy to get in and out of town on the tram (the cost of the ticket only adds CHF 8.40). It's also not too far to walk and on a nice day it would be very pleasant. Only had a short time to eat here. The food I had was ok, nothing special. It was very expensive in my opinion but that's Switzerland and I didn't get a chance to compare it to other places in Bern either on price or quality.

I went on a day when the weather was cold and overcast with a light drizzle of rain. The greyness of the day probably didn't do this place any justice - however the raised sections of the fort gave spectacular views of the thunderstorms in the distance. Best avoided on a day when cruise ships are in port as this place will be over-run with tourists. It cost €4 per adult to get in, which isn't that bad compared to other similar fortresses and castles I have been to. The church of St George inside the grounds is worth a visit as is heading to the lighthouse at the top, where you are reward with a spectacular panorama of Corfu town and the mountains on the mainland.

I didn't really know what to expect when coming here but these gardens really did take me by surprise. They are beautiful and well-kept. The view across the port and city is also pretty spectacular, and it's a nice change from the rest of the city, which seemed quite unremarkable from what I saw (to be fair, I didn't see a lot of the city itself). Well worth popping by this place.

A nice motel just a short walk from downtown, which makes it very convenient. I didn't use any of the facilities so can't comment on those but the room was reasonable, about average size and met its purpose for my stay in Boulder.

Being on top of a hill, there are some great views of the city to be had from the castle. There is the choice to walk up or take the cable car - both are good options but the walk is quite steep, so be warned! The castle has a restaurant and I'm told they have the best chef in Slovenia. The food is certainly good there - no idea about price as it was part of a conference dinner - but it was typical of this type of restaurant: big plates nicely decorated but small portions. The castle was worth the visit and I'd certainly recommend a visit during a trip to Ljubljana.

The drum section is huge at this store and has a vast array of stuff for sale - for that alone, I would give five stars. However, I find that they are generally more expensive than other stores, even when factoring in the cost of the extra travel I have to make to get to them (Andertons in Guildford, for example - or even Bonners Music in Eastbourne!). The staff know their stuff but aren't as helpful as other stores I've been to. Getting to this place can be a challenge if you don't know the way and are following a sat nav as there is a one-way system in place. It's not ideally located but it does mean that they can have a huge store, so that is a plus. I recommend avoiding the place on a Wembley event day if you're coming by car - parking is almost impossible. Averaging out the good and bad, I think it's fair to give four stars to this place as I've never had a terrible experience there - only with the traffic nearby!

It's a medium-sized airport as you might expect given the destinations and the aircraft it caters for. The staff were friendly and those that needed to spoke enough English. The security staff in particular were some of the friendliest I've encountered and it was one of the nicest security transits I've had. On arrival, the tour desk was easy to find, as was the car hire. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. There's not a lot to do so bring a book or something to keep you entertained if you're planning on getting there early.
