Very yummy and fresh sushi. The owner and staff are a delight as well as helpful in suggesting new rolls. We've ordered the bento boxes many times and the salmon is always perfect. You can't beat the sushi special either with 3 rolls, drinks, miso, and dessert. The spicy crunch is one of the best.

Akasaka used to be my favorite sushi restaurant, but ever since it got new owners the food has really gone down hill. A friend and I liked to get sushi every week for lunch and Akasaka used to be one of our favorite places, they have a buy one get one free lunch deal that you just cant beat. However, we have both now experienced food poisoning after eating the sushi. Love the service and the food, but it's not worth 8 hours of vomiting.

I've had sushi almost everywhere in Utah. Its amazing compared to any sushi restaurant in the area. The price is fair not as cheap as some of the sushi restaurants on state street. But quality of sushi is why you should come here. I can proudly say that its my favorite sushi place in Utah.

This restaurant is in a small strip mall at about 3300 So. where Urban Blues and Cafe Rio are located. The small restaurant is clean and bright. The staff were kind and quick. The food was what you'd expect at a higher end sushi bar. VERY TASTY. If you're looking for a place to enjoy quality sushi without paying the hefty price then Akasaka is the place for you.

Simply said: Don’t go here! If you value your health, don’t eat “sushi” from this place!! We ordered several rolls and niguri for a group of 5. The Salmon was so old it was falling apart. Each roll tasted of old fish, even though two were crab and eal. The cashier took money then touched food items and dishes, such as the microwave which sits right by the register, with unwashed hands. The prep area used by the ‘chefs’ is run down and dirty, and the cold storage area, used to keep the fish at a constant temp, was DIRTY and looked as if it wasn’t working properly. Why did we “eat” there then? We didn’t. We are a few pieces, poked at a few items on our plates, paid and left quickly. The seating area is cramped, poorly light and the poorly maintained dining/Karaoke show room was digusting!

Simple classic sushi with a local feel. YJ is generous and honest. Great place to frequent. Now adding karaoke, never done it, but sounds fun.

I was floored how good this place was. I'd probably say this is the best sushi in town when you factor in affordability from what I've had around SLC. We did three rolls, the swiss, candy, and hollywood. They absolutely nailed it on all 3 in terms of presentation and taste. And they do not skimp on the size of them either. This is the type of sushi place, where, even when you're stuffed, you want to get more because the execution of the rolls is just that good, where it becomes an experience. Highly recommended and will definitely go back.

I greatly enjoyed their rolls. Also , since our rolls were taking longer than expected the waitress brought us some edamame on the house.
