First try, earlier today. The wiki put it at far fewer hours (this is the time if you haven't upgraded your breeding/nursery structures). Anyway, good luck everybody!

Weird that a few of those "reshare" or chain-letter-ish posts made it through. Google's filter mixes those pretty evenly, normally, between actual spam and those of you that are just excited for a while and post too many times in a row. It seems like they loosened things a bit, which is good for those of you posting original or content related to the game(s).

I didn't ban anybody for the posts I removed. Please, please, do not cross-post that nonsense to this group. If you need to post a chain-letter, share it to your own page, or a group that is full of such things. A celebrity that looks like an alpaca is not as relevant as you might think it is. :-)

Have a good weekend!

I'm going to pin this post for visibility.

I very, very lightly moderate the group. However, please remember the following guidelines to keep the place enjoyable for everybody.

Please be kind/respectful towards each other.
As an adult, with children I care for playing the game(s), this is obvious, and the group has historically been wonderful about it. Whatever bullying is nowadays, do not do it. Otherwise, express yourself, and have fun!

Do not spam the group.
Tagging people over and over and spamming their recruitment posts with your own, while possibly effective, is unfair to the people that are competing for the same players by posting regular recruitment messages or putting time and effort into awesome recruitment posters. This was not something I worried about before tribes, but now that they are here, I see no good coming to the community or individuals from recruitment based on who spams the hardest.

Please do not post the equivalent of chain letters (repost this or your dog will gain x-ray vision and steal your car). They are content, of a kind, but they detract from everything game-related that is posted by your peers. They are noise, and I can promise you that "your crush" doesn't care if this particular post has a quarter of a million shares.

Unfortunately, if it's enough to catch my eye, I will heavily moderate this with an initial warning and removal of a bulk of the offending posts. Subsequent spamming will result in a ban.

Please, do not be afraid to post because of this! I imagine it is fairly obvious to the person doing it that they are spamming. Managing your tribes and recruiting is the purpose of that topic, and I do not want anybody to worry that doing so is too much.

Actually, that's it for now. The group as a whole seems to have always run cleanly without much intervention. It is awesome to see the progress, content, and tribes you have all put together!

Because I have mentioned it before, there are a large number of your posts to this group that get flagged automatically by the system as spam, requiring me to manually mark them as acceptable content. I do this every few days, and I suspect it is simply a rate-limit in the system. Keep it in mind, if you're excitedly posting fan art or pictures of iguanas dressed as singing monster super heroes. Your posts will hit the group, but there is an occasional delay.

If it is important to you that your content be seen without delay, feel free to message or tag me and let me know to check the system and approve your post(s)!

It's related to my other post, but I would like to thank and apologize to the players behind "stan" and "speed." Both were members of the tribe I made to gather up some community members, and they both put forth a much appreciated and awesome effort each week. We lost them while I was tracking who to remove for putting forth the opposite effort.

Thanks guys! Hope you found a good place!

As much as I hate to do it, I would love to get a bit more out of the group tribe I created. It's been happily full for a few months now, but there are a number of people that do absolutely nothing each and every week.

Those of you that are doing so have received a large number of diamonds at this point, just for joining.

Long story short, you have the remainder of this week, and the following to indicate that you're interested in contributing. After that, I will remove you and begin accepting replacements.

For perspective, I level my monster anywhere between 25 and 50 each week, depending on my mood (50 is the amount needed to get the maximum diamond reward each week if each player levels to that number). A few players have been leveling over 50 each week.

Have fun, and I enjoy playing with all of you!

Sorry for anything that has been flagged by Google+ in the past few months.  I just went in to review, and found that there were quite a number of posts that hadn't made it through.  They're a bit silly about friend codes (most of the posts that had been blocked).  The only thing I refused to allow in was the "post this to three communities" chain letter thing.  Please, don't.

Glad to see that the new game has made it in here a bit.  It's been eating up a good amount of my game time (and frustration) lately.  :-)  Have fun, everybody!

So, lock screen ads in Windows 10... Install Mint 17.3 into a VMWare Workstation 12.0 machine to test for hardware. Boots well, software update, reboot, kernel panic.

What the actual fuck?!

By all indications, Linux is more stable than it ever has been before, but I can reproduce this in current distributions of Debian, Kali, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu, FreeBSD, SteamOS, etc. into Workstation, VirtualBox, and directly on hardware.

I am always happy to read commentary of children that have successfully put Linux on their toaster in the three years they've been using computers and want to babble about user error, but am I really two decades of edge cases? They are unmodified systems!

I would guess the early Bulldozer CPU for this one. Way to optimize for virtual machines, me. Eight cores of failure.

Message and Moderation Queue Cleared

Been a few, since I am taking a break from mobile games to do some design nonsense (Unity) and play a few games in my PC backlog (~800 games on Steam [Layers of Fear, currently]).

Those of you that spend a lot of time here are quick to point out repost/group shares, and I appreciate your attempts to get newer members to understand that this group should not be home to what would be only spam and trolling, if it kept going unchecked. If you are curious why I delete and discourage them, take a look around at other communities on Google+ to get an idea of how easily they can get overwhelmed by such posts and become useless for their community.

I cleared the ones where people said "no," to your warnings about "inappropriate" or off-topic content. Hopefully you were able to get some to acquiesce, and I just did not have to see those!

Additionally, I cleared a single post about another game (that I play), and I debated leaving it alone. I only did clear it because it was a video about a currency "glitch," and I want avoid encouraging seeking out ways to "cheat" in mobile games. There are valid ways to do it (my current work area is "security research,") but 99.9% of the videos and articles about it lead to either surveys or malware, and I do not want any of you to be a victim there.

Graphical glitches are fine, and amusing. My Kindle still only plays My Singing Monsters on 20% of my screen! Keep in mind, as far as our games go, that our data is stored on BBB's servers, and any exploits you find, even if they appear valid, will not modify that data. It is not worth running untrusted programs on your devices! They do not work, at best. At worst, they are malware that the person is using to make money from anybody that wants an easy fix.

I would make a tag for all of you for off-topic posts, because I do not mind discussion about other things, exactly, but I am afraid it would just become a place for exactly the type of posts I do end up removing from the group (spam, chain letters, "exploits"). My apologies to the author of the one post I removed that fit into a grey area. Please do not be discouraged from engaging with the community! I hated removing that post, as it was clear you intended no ill will.

All of that aside, you all have made some absolutely beautiful, creative, and amazing content. I am extraordinarily happy that you are able to use this place to share with a community of players that can appreciate it, and make friends in the process. Thank you for being here!

Question
How do you feel about an "Introduce Yourself" topic? I am not sure I will not create a poll about it, but if anybody makes it to the bottom of this ridiculously long post, I am curious if that seems like something interesting. :-)

I can not tag the three people remaining in the tribe, and, it seems that I have had little success recruiting after removing the people that do absolutely nothing (having somebody that lives with me outside the game leave the tribe this morning was a bit of a wakeup).

I am promoting one of the people in the tribe that I have an actual Google+ account name to notify. Minerva, Flamingo, Flyingkitty, I apologize. If you decide to maintain the tribe (recruiting the number of people needed, even with the three pending requests, will be quite a feat), you are welcome to it.

Good luck, and I hope you all find a place where your contributions are matched and appreciated! I am going to sit the whole system out for a little while, I think. I have a lot of data to sort lately (ebook metadata), and some assistance in developing a non-FireOS ROM for a few Kindles in the house! Busy, busy!

I downloaded the Wolfram CDF Player a few days ago. I was using it to look at the characteristics of multi-pendulum'ed pendulums (starting position dependency).

So, in comes an email from their Academic Marketing Coordinator yesterday.

I told her that my calculus professor suggested Mathematica, I used Wolfram|Alpha as part of my homework (quick graphs during lectures, and testing for projects), and I will buy it in a year or so, when I need a mathematics kernel on my computer.

Today, a different person from the company has taken over those emails and asking further questions. I always feel like I am being punished for answering email.

I downloaded it because of a TED talk about cosmology. Which has nothing to do with school.

Email is going back to "My 'Forgot Your Password?' Box." I do not make purchasing decisions for my school.

One of the completely awesome people that left due to the awful numbers came back this week (thanks, speed!), but it looks pretty sad with only six people. Though, it seems we're getting close to level 300 with those few people.

Annnnyway, if anybody is looking for a tribe and can put in a reasonable amount of activity during the week, send a request! I know, I know, a lot of options for recruiting. Give it a thought!

My friend code is 9231389CD.

So, I gave it an extra week on the tribal leveling (I was not at my computer last Sunday, but counted 9 contributors), and 21/30 people haven't been leveling monsters. Two of the players that were leveling their monster quite a bit every week left because of it. This is punishing everybody that puts forth the effort to level each week.

[This count is slightly early, and Flyingkitty has been an amazing tribe member and torch-lighter, contrary to the momentary number for this week. ]

Anyway. 22 spots are opening up in the tribe for the upcoming week (Halina appears to be TRYING to hit level 2 with her monster, so will stay with hopes she hits 2 with it next week). If you actually plan on feeding a monster and can contribute, come on over! Right now it looks like we average around 200-250 with the 9 (7 now) people that actually play.

My friend code is 9231389CD.

Please let me know if you are requesting a spot, because there are a lot of dead requests and declining them doesn't clear them off the list. It's a pain to manage.

Other tribal leaders, keep an eye out for the names I have removed (New Player!?), because they are not contributors.

That's what was actually concerning me (losing the players that were making a monumental effort each and every week). Unfortunately, we lost two of them while I was keeping track!

If you two happen to see the post, my deepest apologies for not cleaning out (the tribe has been full since the release of tribes) earlier to give you more players willing to put forth the effort.
