On 8/19/2016, MHLW (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) announced a Fukushima worker’s leukemia was approved as an industrial accident.

The worker is male in 50s. He repaired the machine for debris removal and contaminated water from 4. 2011 to 1. 2015. He developed leukemia in 1. 2015.

The integral exposure dose was 54.4 mSv. He was wearing the whole surface mask, shielding vest of lead and protective clothing. According to MHLW’s safety regulation, 100 mSv of integral exposure dose per nuclear worker is allowed every 5 years.

There have been only 2 cases approved as industrial accident. 9 other cases were applied so far but 5 of these are still under investigation and the rests are not paid.

On 7/15/2016, Fukushima prefectural government objected against the plan to build a stone coffin on Fukushima plant to METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).

2 days before, Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation released the new plan on Fukushima plant decommissioning. In this new plan, building a stone coffin to cover the reactor buildings like Chernobyl nuclear power plant was mentioned.

Uchibori, the governor of Fukushima prefecture officially objected to the government of Japan and demanded to remove nuclear fuel debris and dispose it outside of Fukushima plant instead of sacrophagus.

The governor commented building a sacrophagus in Fukushima is “unacceptable”. Fukushima prefecture would have to give up returning the residents and it would also affect the harmful rumor.

Takagi, Senior Vice-Minister of METI and Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation apologized and stated they have never considered sacrophagus and will try to complete the removal of all nuclear fuel debris in Fukushima plant.

According to MHLW (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), 960 Bq/Kg of Cesium-134/137 was measured from the meat of wild boar in Fukushima.

The sampling date was 6/11/2016. This reading is over 9 times much as food safety limit.

Cs-134 density was 154 Bq/Kg to prove it is contaminated from Fukushima accident.

From this report MHLW released on 7/19/2016, significant density of Cs-134/137 was detected from all of 33 wild boar samples and it exceeded the food safety limit (100 Bq/Kg) in 2/3 samples.

MHLW reports none of these wild boar meat was distributed for sale.

Following up this article.. Tepco to scan Reactor 2 with Muon again after Nagoya uni already confirmed nothing remaining [URL]

Tepco admitted the molten fuel is transferred to multiple places in Reactor 2 by 6/30/2016.

Tepco had been implementing the muon scanning investigation with KEK (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization).

Tepco describes the research result as it is highly likely that major part of the molten nuclear fuel remains in the bottom of the reactor with structures of the inside of the reactor. They also detected a part of the molten fuel on the wall of the reactor. This means the molten fuel was separated and remaining in different locations. Tepco did not mention the percentage of the detected fuel.

Tepco did not identify the location either so it is not clear if the fuel remains inside of the Reactor Pressure Vessel or its outer structure, Primary Containment Vessel.

According to Tepco, highly contaminated water leaked from a water storage tank on 6/26/2016.

All β nuclides density is reportedly 96,000,000 Bq/m3. Cs-134/137 density is also 700,000 Bq/m3.

Tepco states the leaked volume was 72 L. Based on their announcement, at least 6,912,000 Bq of all β nuclides leaked to contain Sr-90.

Tepco says no contaminated water spread to the outside of the tank area.

The type of this tank has unwelded joint parts, which is vulnerable for leakage.

The life of these tanks was reported to be 5 years but in 2013 Tepco admitted it has no basis.

These tanks are not bearable for the contaminated water but these are still in use.

In the press release, the major retail company Aeon is mentioned as a partner of this event.

CEO of Aeon is the older brother of Japanese Democratic Party’s leader. Okada.

Fukushima Governor commented they have not detected excessive density of radioactive material in any of their agricultural products over the past year.
