Thanks to the awesome winter it looks like we'll have in #LakeTahoe, I'll be continuing my #hiking guides - but for snowshoeing and skiing!
Here's the first one, and probably the easiest - Grass Lake near South Lake Tahoe. It's easy because it's short and flat but it has opportunities for you to make it much more difficult and longer if you wish.

This is one of my favorite activities to do every time I go to Kauai, and I always go with the same outfitter.
You start by kayaking Hawaii's only navigable river, the Wailua, then beaching the kayaks in the jungle and hiking to Uluwehi Falls. This waterfall, and the entire area, was once used as "hidden gardens" to keep island royalty fed during raids on the island.

Reef early and often! My priorities for reasons doing so are pretty much the same as in this article: crew comfort, performance, and less fatigue on the gear.

Reefing: how, when and why do we do it? The answers may not be as straightforward as you think, says James Jermain

I've been extremely impressed with Sony's mirrorless camera lineup after switching from Canon DSLR. I've used three of the Sony Alphas so far, but there's more than that.
Each one is a tool suited for different situations - here's the breakdown.

Pulling your hair out looking at all the Sony Alpha mirrorless models? This Sony Alpha comparison should provide some insight about which camera to choose.

I'm an internationally published photographer and author who has called Lake Tahoe home for 25 years (okay, I was gone for ten of those while flying in the Air Force).
I'm an avid hiker and love exploring the Sierra Nevadas and sharing its beauty with you.  I'm also an avid sailor, and spend a good chunk of the year on my 27-foot sailboat, sailing around the Caribbean and sharing those experiences as well.
