Good day to work outside using the Chromebook Plus. Glare is a challenge when using on lap as a tablet. Not so bad when in standard notebook mode.

So I bought my wife a June Oven for Valentine's Day. Conceptually, it's amazing: an efficient oven with Wi-Fi, built in camera for object recognition, app notifications and will get smarter over time.

But, it was $1,500. There is a 100 day return policy, no questions asked, else I might not have taken the chance.

So far, I "made" Toaster Strudels this morning and it correctly identified them, plus they were the best I've ever had. (A toaster never fully thaws the middle without burning the outside!)

Tonight we cooked baked potatoes and they were perfect. We also made two steaks (we chose medium rare) and they were.... just OK. The broiler part of the smart recipe didn't quite sear the outsides enough, however, they were a perfect medium rare. We'll have to play some more.

Neat thing is that you can watch your food cook from phone and you get notifications when food is done. And everything you cook gets recorded by the camera so you get this nifty time lapse video!

Small update on my early Samsung Chromebook Plus. I wasn't sure if you could rest your hand on the screen when drawing or taking notes.

You can! :)

This is just a simple test using Keep, which is set as the default app to launch when you pull out the stylus. There's also a link to the Play Store, pointing out other stylus apps.

There's some very slight lag with stylus input but it's not terrible IMO. Almost to be expected with an EMR pen and a $449 device. I suspect it the experience will improve. And there is an option in Keep to create text from your written notes, which would then (I believe) make them searchable.

Got one or more Nest Cams? You can view them from a Shield TV with the latest software update. Nice!

Samsung Chromebook Plus in da house! Snagged the last unit at my local Best Buy this afternoon. Charging to full now so haven't used it yet other than to run an Octane benchmark using Incognito Mode.

Scored 9945. I'm used to my Core i7 HP Chromebook 13 with an Octane score around 30,000 so there's surely a performance compromise; not sure how much yet in real world usage.

But this has a touchscreen, stylus, tablet mode and Android apps out of the box so it might be a reasonable compromise.

First long drive with the 2017 Volt I bought on 11/25/16. Round trip to a NJ track meet. Very happy with the mileage performance.

Still had 3 miles of battery range and used less than 2.5 gallons for the highway driving. Now have 1275 miles on the car, still on the first tank of gas and have about 175 miles of gasoline range left.
