There's no cell phones or traffic lights in most of my photos. This shocks us now but we connect with an inherent nostalgia for a time when life seemed to be much easier. Thanks Slate.com for this great article about my work.

I have donated one of my photographs for auction to
http://proof.org.

Bringing together photographers, documentarians, academics, and activists, PROOF creates exhibitions, publications, and on-site activities in nations with some of the world’s most troubled histories.

PROOF’s exhibitions tell untold stories of acts of moral courage and document injustice and human rights abuses.

Support a great cause by bidding on my work at https://paddle8.com/work/martin-elkort/67713-black-cat-walks or the work of others who have donated at http://paddle8.com/auction/proof/

Wonderful to have Martin Elkort's photography featured today on #Lenscratch  website. That these photos taken during the late 1940s and early 1950s continue to move viewers is a testament to Martin's legacy.

I just received an email from the other camp counselor in this photograph from Camp Onibar in the Poconos where I was a counselor in 1946. He says he still keeps in touch with some of the boys!
My experience was such a formative part of my early years and I love the photographs from this series.
