Was not a big fan of the show (I only seem to like shows that get canceled after a few episodes), but I do remember him from what little I saw of it.

two of my students, mother and daughter, were just gabbing after class, and i told both of them to go and vote in the primary. mom said she felt her vote didn't matter, but daughter (about 23) piped up and said mom, that's not true, all the city, county, and state elections are true democracy where the most votes wins. mom and i both looked at her, smiled, and i said "good job".

i hadn't heard or seen my neighbors in awhile. i was worried about his wife who was seriously, gravely ill. so this morning i saw him pulling out of *$, he waved, and i motioned him with the hollywood sign for call me. we chatted, and he made my day by saying his wife is recovering nicely and making great progress. woot!

"Say Brother" program 1972 - On the mental illness of the runaway slave. Please see link below:

It was Samuel Cartwright that labeled the illness of the runaways. Our fight back has always been considered an ill whether it be use of "Black Lives Matter," a raised fist, unifying ourselves...or benefiting from justices like Affirmative Action

I'm also trying to put myself into the mindset of white people (not just slaveowners) in the 1850s. Did they consider black people human? Would they react similarly to a horse breaking down a fence and running away?

Oops! Republicans called out Tim Kaine over this lapel pin. But, it turns out it isn’t what they thought it was…

"It can happen when elephants are frustrated or bored. In my opinion, it's unlikely the elephant was directly targeting the girl - but exhibiting frustration. You can't predict what animals in captivity will do."
A seven-year-old girl dies after an elephant throws a stone that hits her head in a Moroccan zoo.

thai is one of the more difficult languages i've encountered in my travels. i know a handful of words, phrases, and can tell the taxi driver where i need to go, but i cannot read a word of it. the spoken number system is largely borrowed from cantonese, so that comes in handy for me. thai also shares a feature with korean, where aspiration is contrastive (breathy sounds versus sounds with no breath on them).

Learning the Thai Language in Thailand. It is often said that the best way to learn any language is to immerse one’s self in the culture of the country.

decent place. smaller portions than what you would get in California. the guacamole was surprisingly fresh and tasty, the tomato salsa not as much. i had a chicken quesadilla and a beer and it was a pleasant experience. difficult cuisine to do in hk, but they manage!

great food, great service. i prefer cafe san jose's pancakes over holder's and cup and saucer. huge menu of classic lunch and brunch items. the benedicts are wonderful, and i love my country/home fries/house potatoes nice and cruncy. the specials are often interesting.

i just don't get why people pack this place and wait an hour for a table that serves incredibly large portions of uninspired, mediocre, americanized italian food. i've gone several times where the wrong sandwich was brought out, the wrong soup, right down to bringing out the wrong utensils despite a couple of requests. i've been in even busier places on a weekend night where service runs flawlessly. service is courteous enough, just not always competent. i'm always willing to give the local places my business, but corporate competitors like pasta pomodoro manage to have higher quality food at a better value.
