AF at F8 on MKIII ok for images sitting still, not so much if they are on move, oh well, set my expectations a bit too high.  Manual focus still better overall....  Allen's female, So Cal...

Corporate Community as Spam.

Yesterday one of my images was re-shared to a Nature Photgraphy Community.  The community was created by a commercial entity page.  I was then invited to join.  I believe that if communities like this get past the point of failure, the corporate creator will have managed to acquire content free support for a perpetual advertisement.

I voiced my distaste in a post. The post was removed and I was summarily banned from re-joining.

Prior to my post, I also posted on the re-share of my image the same words.  It will be the price they have to pay to keep my image there.

I am concerned that this is going to become common practice here.  That our content will be used to build communities for the purpose of free advertisement.  Hopefully it does not, because it would certainly be the end of my account here.

Here is the link for those interested.

+Seth Burgess Yeah, I thought about that, but then I would be eliminating one of the best features of G+.  Normally I love my images to be shared and passed around.  This one case doesn't bother me so much either.  I just think we are going to be seeing quite a bit of this in the future and that is going to bother me quite a bit.  +J.L. Btwee is right.  It's very clever.

Well done. The National Association of Realtors once tried to license images from me for free! Few people have any respect for the work that goes into creating an image but they all want the content because it is paramount to selling advertisement, SEO, and getting that elusive "click". You should consider setting up a Wordpress blog to share your images and the stories behind them.

Took a small hike today and came across a 4-5 Gopher Snake.  It was surprisingly casual despite there being quite a few people checking it out.  I kept getting in front of it to take a pic and it kept moving toward me.  Considering I needed at least 1.5 meters for focus it was a bit frustrating.  You would think it would have at least paused for a bit...!  Stepped back a bit further and kept shooting.

Went to look for the chick today and it was not in the nest.  I found the mother resting on her favorite branch in a bush nearby.  Stood by for a while until she flew up higher into the tree, quite a distance from the nest, and was able to confirm that the chick is doing fine and has left the nest!!  Looks like this will be the conclusion....

Anna’s Hummingbird Nest Photo Shoot Walkthrough

A couple weeks ago, I spent about a week working on a small project, photographing Anna's hummingbird chicks on the nest, as they grew up. I
