In honor of one of America's great photographers and a pioneer for females in photo journalism, we remember the work of Eve Arnold (1912-2012). Here, children attend a party to introduce school integration in 1958--PHOTOS: http://slate.me/zaoPnM

Is it me or have the Muppets have made themselves relevant again in the past three years using exclusively YouTube?

Art evolving through technology

A great video about how dance has embraced the internet and how it's helped push the medium foreword. The principles of this can be applied to many different art forms, any ideas on how what else you can apply it to and how?

We're so proud of our mentors, Jim & Ann Patterson. They were named "Volunteer of the Year" at the Heart of Marin awards for their amazing work to close the education gap for low income students in West Marin.
The Dance Palace Community Center and Point Reyes National Seashore Association received top honors for achievement in nonprofit excellence at the annual Heart of Marin awards on Thursday.

This utterly made my morning. David Attenborough pulls a Shatner and does a spoken-word version of What a Wonderful World, over some incredible BBC footage.

It gave me chills.

(Also, Attenborough can make spoken-word cool. Is there no end to the man's powers?)

Introduction

The transformation from student-in-need to college graduate is inspirational to witness. But it doesn't happen nearly enough. Too many kids in too many marginalized communities still have no one who believes in their potential.

We all lose out.

10,000 Degrees plants the seed of a college degree. We connect them with a mentor. We help them research and apply to college and provide them with financial aid, the emotional support and the wil to persevere adn earn their degree.

That's the work we do. Each student, each story and each degree is contributing to massive change.
