Get pumped people...because IT’S WINTER BREAK!!!🎄👏🏼💃🏼

I bet you’ve already done TONS of straight up chilling, laying around in your PJs, watching all the cheesy Netflix Christmas movies, and making all the holiday cookies. Because after a tough semester, you deserve it sister.

But after a few days of laying around, doesn’t it get kind of...old? Are you craving more of a productive holiday break this year? One that will actually grow you, motivate you, and leave you energized to kick some booty in the coming new year?💪🏻✨

If you said YES to the above, then I’ve got the perfect blog for you today, my friend. Check out my latest post on OTinsight.org--https://otinsight.org/making-the-most-of-your-winter-break-6-tips-for-students/

But really though...😂

I literally told my husband last night, “My 2019 goal is to stop being such a big lazy butt.” And honestly, nothing sums up my new year goals much better than that.🤷‍♀️

Being an #enneagramtype4, I’ve heard it said that we tend to be both extremely ambitious and extremely lazy all at the same time...and while I see this play out time and time again in my daily life, I am striving to say NO to laziness (as often) in 2019 and YES to ambition more and more!

In 2019, I plan to focus more on my HEALTH—everything from water intake, to exercise, mental health, stress management, vitamins and supplements, getting rid of toxic chemicals in my skincare and household products—making 2019 a cleaner, greener, healthier year all around🌿✨

Now if only I could tone down my ambitious side a bit so I could make goals that are actually realistic...Anybody else with me?😂

What is your anti-laziness, pro-ambition, actually REALISTIC goal for the new year? Drop it in the comments below so we can cheer each other on!!👏🏼🎉💃🏼

Do you struggle with finding the time for self-care? Me too, friend.

I tend to overwork myself until I wind up sick in bed. And then I find myself in desperate need of some TLC.

But self-care is about more than picking yourself up when you've let yourself go again. It's about implementing little daily activities and rituals into your life to help prevent burnout from happening in the first place.

Check out my latest post for some tips and tricks to make self-care an easier part of your daily routine.

All of us in the OT world have had the conversation..."So, is occupational therapy just like physical therapy?" And we just sigh and respond, "No, not at all, actually."

I heard your pain, friend. That's why I wrote my latest blog post--"OT vs. PT: What's the Difference?" Take a look for an easy way to understand the one main difference between occupational therapy and physical therapy.

Check it out! And share it with that one friend that just doesn't understand the difference :)

Anybody else struggle to keep a positive mindset?🙋🏼‍♀️In the daily grind of to-do lists, work tasks, family responsibilities (the list could go on and on...), it’s really easy for me to get down on myself, especially when I feel like I’m not DOING or BEING “enough” in some way.

Have you ever heard of the term “self-talk”? Basically, self-talk is the internal monologue, or inner voice that we each have inside us, influencing how we perceive and respond to the world around us.

What does your self-talk sound like? Is it kind, gentle, warm, and loving? Or is it self-defeating, rude, and harsh? Does it lead you to take action because you believe in yourself, or does it hold you back by keeping you trapped in self-doubt?

Changing your mindset takes practice, but it is KEY🔑to maintaining your mental health and preventing burnout (especially in a career like OT). So take a personal inventory of your self-talk today and start to make small positive changes. For every negative thought you notice, try telling yourself three positive affirmations instead. Once you change your mindset, everything else will start to fall into place.✨

And WE’RE LIVE!!!🎉🎉🎉

Y’all, I am PUMPED about this resource that I have been working so hard on! Here’s a look into the “why” behind OTinsight.org...

I first stumbled upon the field of OT in a coffee shop where I met a woman wearing scrubs, and I asked what she did for a living (bc honestly at the time, I just wanted a career where I could wear scrubs).

Fast forward⏭after deciding to pursue OT as a career, I was struggling to find people out there talking about the field in a very real way! I found a few blogs, but many were outdated and seemingly out of touch with reality. I wanted REAL people giving me REAL insight on this field that I wanted to make into a career!

Because let’s be honest—choosing a career is TOUGH without knowing what you’re really getting into.

So I decided to create this resource, OTinsight.org as a place to be REAL about everything it takes to become an OT in hopes to educate, equip, and encourage other prospectives out there like me—and my hope is that this little corner of this internet will grow with me throughout #occupationaltherapy school and long into my career!

Come follow along the journey!🎉🎉🎉

First things first. If you’re joining me here on this little journey, you may be thinking, “wait a sec...what even is OT...?” Well friend, I’m glad you asked.

Contrary to popular belief, no, occupational therapists do not help people find jobs🤦🏼‍♀️They are highly trained professionals who work with their clients to meet goals through purposeful activities, or occupations.

OT’s work in SO MANY different ways! From helping a kid with handwriting skills, to working with a stroke victim to learn to get dressed without the use of the left side of their body, OT’s are the real MVPs when you or your loved one has a serious injury, surgery, disability, or developmental disorder.
