Missing Hal's "Misogynistic Adventures of Threepwood Guybrush", any chance for a new 5e episode soon?

Guybrush is probably more misanthropic than misogynistic - his desire to do bad things to people's bodily orifices using unpleasant implements transcends such paltry concerns as gender, or even vital signs. (Hello-o-o, elven ghost nurse!) ;-)

Anyone need the core, Sunward, Transhuman, Panopticon, or several adventures and character packs - the extended bundle is (was, as of 12/31, anyway) under $20 to pick up.

Through Wednesday, January 7, we're reviving our June 2014 Eclipse Phase Bundle, a comprehensive tabletop RPG collection from Posthuman Studios that gives you everything you need to start an Eclipse Phase campaign of transhumanist science fiction, conspiracy, and post-apocalypse horror. For just US$8.95 you get all four titles in our starter collection (retail value $40) as DRM-free, non-watermarked .PDF ebooks:

- Eclipse Phase (retail price $20): Join the secret organization Firewall to defend transhumanity from terrorists, nanoswarms, rogue AIs, and more.
- NPC File Volume 1 - Prime (retail $5): Over 30 original characters with descriptions and full stats, ready for any campaign.
- Sunward - The Inner System (retail $15): The inner worlds of the Solar System, from the Solarians who dive into the Sun's corona to an upswelling of Barsoomian patriotism on Mars.
- Eclipse Phase Sample Characters (free): As a convenience to our customers, we include this gorgeous collection of 16 characters from the rulebook, reformatted for 8x10" cardstock.

And if you pay more than the threshold price, which starts at $15.95, you'll level up and get our complete collection of four bonus titles (retail value $40):

- Transhuman (retail $15): This essential player's guide includes a random lifepath generator, expanded rules for infomorphs and flexbots, and over 30 new morphs ready to be sleeved.
- Panopticon (retail $15): How to live in a "transparent" society; the inner workings of space habitats and how to hack them; and new gear, rules, and morphs for uplifted characters.
- Continuity (retail $5): A one-shot scenario or a campaign kickoff. You awaken in a new morph with two weeks of your life missing, and only limited time to deal with a looming threat.
- The Devotees (retail $5): Pit your Firewall team against Nine Lives, the most ruthless syndicate of soul thieves in the system.

Join the fight to rescue Transhumanity from extinction -- but join soon! This Eclipse Phase Bundle revival ends Wednesday, January 7.

Well, most of the PDF's are free via the CC license, so when you pay actual cash for them your really only doing so to support the creator/writers. Which I think is always a good thing, especially for an RPG you like. IE paying cash to keep them going.

Obama's finally going to bat for net neutrality:
Good news, America. Our president, Barack Obama, is finally standing up for the internet, and asking the FCC to classify it as a public utility. In other words, he's asking the agency not to allow destructive things like fast lanes (a.k.a. paid prioritization) or throttling. It's a great day!

It takes an act of congress to override the FCC anyway. (act...Haha!)

This congress is lame and disfucntional. The 114th is just going to exhume the healthcare horse for a pinata party until 2016.

At best, we'll see nothing.

I know memories can be edited out (and theoretically in), but what about skills? Could a mad scientist ego-nap a random citizen and reprogram them to be some kind of deep cover sleeper agent for a faction or to become a random terrorist? I guess it could be done through time compressed VR indoctrination.

Here's a cookie from our heavily violent but scientifically friendly (kind of?) "friends" at DARPA: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165027014002702

I haven't read it all, but one of the most notable feats they mention under the section 3.1., "Accelerated Learning", is the accomplishment of doubling (2.3 times increase, actually) the learning rate of their rookie soldiers on rifle marksmanship. What they did was that they studied the general areas of the brain that are exercised when an already highly skilled professional in the area does their job, along with other physiological variables, and then they stimulate those areas in the brain of the rookie soldiers with BCI (Brain Computer Interfaces) while they are training, so that their brain has a performance boost in identifying which neural processes are the most efficient at learning a new skill.

Did you love Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, or are Bruce Lee movies more your speed? Either way, Jack Norris's Tianxia will win you over. Until November 27th, Tianxia: Blood, Silk, & Jade is a bonus title in the Bundle of Holding's Bundle of Fate +2.

Tianxia (Vigilance Press) is a Fate -powered tabletop fantasy roleplaying game based on the wuxia sub-genre of martial arts adventure. (Norris's cited inspirations include Chinese classics like Outlaws of the Water Margin, the manhua comic series Fung Wan (Storm Riders), a long list of Hong Kong films, and video games such as BioWare's Jade Empire.) In wuxia (Chinese, "wandering warrior") the main characters aren't just master fighters. They're nearly superhuman, able to carve mountains with their fists and, with a good running start, leap canyons. Tianxia combines wuxia and elements of more down-to-earth kung fu stories, playing to one of Fate's strengths: taking heroes with unbelievable powers and grounding them in mundane life.

The Tianxia rulebook assumes you've already read Fate Core (also included in this offer), so it spends most of its 192 pages on setting, a long list of antagonists, and the martial styles characters can master. The setting is Shenzhou, a fantasy land with the timeless trappings of mythic China. The campaign's default area is the wide and well-populated province of Jiangzhou. Much action takes place in the capital city of Bao Jiang, with its restaurants, markets, and playhouses that boast great Aspects like "Out of the Way Corners" and "Strong Plum Wine." Characters like Fish-Eye Cheng, leader of the Blue Carp Brotherhood, and Heartless Ai, the brokenhearted ex-assassin, are sure to make an impression -- maybe a fist-shaped impression. Antagonists include Evil Eunuchs and White Widow Enforcers, as well as eight varieties of Dangerous Mobs. The Fierce Creatures bestiary presents rules for animals as player characters.

Martial artists can choose from 36 unique styles or create their own. Each style has an associated Form with strengths and weaknesses that can be invoked or compelled. Besides the techniques associated with Forms, there are also "Lost Techniques" like Drunken Immortal, Feast of the Golden Vampire, and Mountain-Shattering Shout. Obtaining such a powerful technique can be a quest in itself.

Tianxia makes a few minor rules adjustments to out-of-the-box Fate. It adds one new skill, Chi, the mastery of internal energies. Use Chi to enhance focus, become more resilient against attacks or heal faster, or power kung fu moves. The Jianghu scale ranks characters based on how much kung fu they know; each rank represents a significant rise in power. For instance, higher-ranked characters can move faster and can't be the target of Teamwork from lower-level opponents.

Like any Fate game, Tianxia is meant to be customized. Norris provides many ideas, from bonuses at character creation to Shén attitudes towards gender and sexuality. The GM's section in particular contains Campaign Aspects and other play options that let you distinguish your own Tianxia campaign from any other. Get started with any of four promising campaign/adventure seeds and an "adventure menu" of mix-and-match story ideas.

Tianxia: Blood, Silk, & Jade will please Hong Kong film buffs, Chinese history lovers, fans of the Dynasty Warriors video games, and anyone hungry for out-of-control Fate action. Get it before November 27th in the Bundle of Fate +2!

300,000+ views on my Tesla Model S P85D video from last night, which I guess is as good an indication as any that there are plenty of people out there curious about EVs.

http://www.slashgear.com/teslas-wicked-fast-p85d-just-drove-me-autonomously-09350131/

What I've been finding interesting is the angle other sites writing about the car have taken. The more tech-focused sites (and their commenters) tend to dismiss the speed/power as neat but relatively irrelevant compared to the autopilot stuff; the car-focused sites, meanwhile, generally aren't too keen on the idea of cars driving themselves, but are going crazy about the performance.

Of course, the useful thing about the P85D is that you get both so, no matter which side of the fence, you can satisfy your craving. Well, assuming you have $120k+ to spend on a new car, that is ;)
