For those of you that follow us on Facebook, you have heard Bowser's story. He's here visiting today for some bandage changes, but I wanted to share his story with as many people as we can reach! Please read and share is story with friends and family and consider helping if you can.

Bowser came to Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services (VSES) all the way from NYC because his owner said he’d been the subject of animal cruelty.

Bowser came to VSES through the emergency service. Dr. Hoffman, a board certified veterinary surgeon, examined Bowser and determined that because of the severity of his injuries, extensive surgery would be required to repair skin and tendon damage that Bowser suffered.

Prior to moving to Rochester, Bowser’s owner Casmir reported that Bowser was a victim of animal cruelty from trusted caregivers. After being returned to Casmir, Bowser’s hair started falling out, and his paws, legs and tail became swollen and inflamed. As Bowser worsened, Casmir sought treatment in Brooklyn at an emergency animal hospital. It was determined that Bowser had suffered severe burns caused by scalding water. Bowser was hospitalized and his wounds became apparent. He lost a lot of skin on his legs and feet and had extensive tendon damage in his hind legs.

After hearing what Bowser endured, Dr. Hoffman offered to donate his time to perform the surgery and Rochester Hope for Pets awarded a grant to Casmir to help with the cost of Bowser’s care. But it is still not enough to cover the cost of Bowser’s treatment.

Bowser’s story has touched all of us here at VSES, and we want to help get his story heard! Ultimately, both Bowser and Casmir have suffered significantly throughout this horrible ordeal, and there is still a long road ahead. If you are able to help this little burn victim, please, consider donating toward his care at VSES through Rochester Hope for Pets. Every little donation will go towards his care and treatments while he fights to get better.

To donate, please visit http://rochesterhopeforpets.org/donate.php. Choose "Other Purpose" under fund and in the blank box above the donate button, write "Bowser. Any funds raised in excess of Bowser’s treatment will go towards the treatment of other pets in need at Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services. Consider a donation – help Bowser have a second chance at life and his family a second chance at hope.

Bowser's family also has a donation page running. You can visit at http://gfwd.at/1hDkNCB.
