The Tourism Minister, Hisham Zaazou, has said that up till now 13 countries have lifted the travel bans to Egypt.

The latest two countries, Austria and Ireland, have lifted bans to holiday destinations in the Red Sea and South Sinai on Wednesday.

A number of other countries have lifted bans on related advice warnings to nationals travelling to Egypt.

Zaazou said the ministry launched a Public Relations Campaign to support the Egyptian tourism and reassure would-be visitors about the situation here.

The Hurghada International Airport received 1000 German tourists on Wednesday morning, he added.

The list of countries that have reduced travel warnings to Egypt includes Germany, Hungary, Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Norway, France, Slovenia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Sweden, Estonia and Switzerland.

Egypt will stop all tourism activities with Iran

Egypt's Tourism Ministry has announced that it will stop all tourism activities with Iran over security fears, stating that Egypt will not "support travel with Iran, including flights and tourist visas."

This comes as a blow to the previous government's efforts to reconcile with Iran, which included the first visit by an Iranian leader in more than 30 years, and the first commercial flight between Egypt and Iran in 34 years.

Criticism had emerged among ultra conservative Islamists and some Egyptians over the "dangers" Iranian tourists present to Egypt, with some citing the spread of Shiite Islam, and others pointing to Iran's interference in Egypt's affairs and potential espionage.
