Information Confluence, Mobility 2016 - The Year of the Prequel to Digital World.

Mobile is rapidly being supplemented as an external organ for humans. The skins on mobile display are expected to be in sync with the skins of our personality. Mobile today is a vital element of our lives that observes and learns from our moments of daily lives.

Phones, Phablets et al sync in tandem with digital watches & fitness bands. We predict that it is only a matter of time that the Mobile universe will merge into the world of wearable’s giving consumer’s unprecedented ubiquity into an information centric digital life style.

Design therefore extends much beyond the physical form factor elements like higher, richer display, theater class surround sound audio, & professional production quality camera into design elements that extends to the user interfaces, screen skins , sophisticated personal digital assistant software , financial planning software health & wellness tracking biometrics utilities.

Firstly on the physical form factor , in 2016 we will see a curved pane of glass that fits snuggly into the urban pockets . May I add that foldable fones and tablets may become mainstream sooner than we can envision.

Secondly, there will be devices with transparent glass interfaces that will seduce the consumer with slick hold touch & feel user experience. , though it may take a few seasons before the transparent glass pane screens become mainstream across multiple user platforms.

Next up will some serious avenues of innovation additions in the realms of wireless charging, features that increase collaboration dexterity by incorporating near field communication features. Growing beyond touch, the device interaction experience will go multi-dimensional kinesthetic realms that include voice and gesture recognition (we have already got used to the selfie mode ) aspects.

However the greatest innovations in design will be seen in the area of digital ecosystem where mobility will play the role that our remote controls play at home. Mobile will be at the center of the digital universe summoning information at the users command.

Hence, designing a system to meet the demands of how we organize and serve information to the user will be the fundamental driver of innovations that ensue and much of those ecosystem elements will be beta launched through 2016.

Design Thinking that fosters creativity that transforms the handheld or wearable as extensions of market extensions such as banks, malls, grocery shops, learning slates, drawing boards & pocket diagnostics are the innovations areas that will spring to life into making smart phones and devices smarter and obviously addictively essential in everyone’s lives.

The year 2016 with be a prequel to the years beyond 2016 when an era even more exciting in realm where machines will orchestrating with devices usher a IoT powered digital world.

The future is already a works in smartest minds world over for they believe that the best way to predict the future is to create one – The Android , Azure , Amazon aces are setting up a blinding pace to a connected information society hurtling to us at meteoritic speed.

Bring on the Digital Times !

“Irrational exuberance is the psychological basis of a speculative bubble. I define a speculative bubble as a situation in which news of price increases spurs investor enthusiasm, which spreads by psychological contagion from person to person, in the process amplifying stories that might justify the price increases and bringing in a larger and larger class of investors, who, despite doubts about the real value of an investment, are drawn to it partly through envy of others’ successes and partly through a gambler's excitement.”
― Robert J. Shiller, Irrational Exuberance:

"Whereas the truth is that the State in which the rulers are most reluctant to govern is always the best and most quietly governed, and the State in which they are most eager, the worst."

Development in Independent India - Still a promising work in progress from within- Rural Development is the most important porfolio in any Indian Government . Without the development of rural people, the country can never claim to be developed.

Start Up India , Stand Up India , Skill India ,  Digital India et al are slogans to attract headlines in the pink papers. The Government aside catchy slogans has not yet showcased a fine blue print that elicits plan , budgets  & execution executive orders. The Start Up ecosystems like the ICT ecosystem will florish with or  without or inspite of  government interference. For instance , education is the most adultrated commodity in the country that the ICT industry faces - Employability is the biggest identified challenge .The islands of excellance in IITs and IIMs are despite the government efforts to muddle and mess up.

There is such a manic focus to exacerbate the rapid urbanisation by the present government .  Yes , the urban potholes need immediate addressing as well as lend a method to the madness to the rapidly raging urban expanse . But not at the neglect of the hinterlands.

The priority of the Government is evidenced in the recent announcement by the Finance Ministry to inject fresh tax payer capital to prop up inefficient & poorly managed tardy public sector banks burdened by NPLs... A timely need of the hour ..Yet the priority could have been to infuse allocation to the rural development initiatives as it is a much more desperate call for action long pending. Whilst powers are proactive at anointing top class leadership talents to mend and amend the public sector banks , they are in a way diluting the well established & well served RBI Institution ..Duplication that is ostentateous ..

Stalled projects hinder national growth , stymes employment - But depleated rural economy , parched fileds , farmer suicides  usurping of the tillers backbone - Land Asset -cripple the nation. The latter is more dire & even as the former needs necessary attention.

Like rightly identified with the PSU Banks , focus of attracting & appointing world class leadership talent & program initiatives to the rural development agenda , will hugely impact  by way of fine balancing act to contain the widning vast gap in dispropotionate progress of Urban , Rural rate of development.

Jan Dhan Yojna & Rural Banking thrust  and other initiatives are welcome measures . But more needs to be done. In recent years, agricultural growth has fallen and so have investment and profitability of agriculture, net sown area under crops, and the area under irrigation.

The political parties have a vital role to play in rural development. But unfortunately this role has not been effectively realized by any democratic political party so far. The political parties, today, are guided more by party interests rather than by national interests.

The present government was sent to office with an overwhelming majority to install & execute  an  all roound development works across rural & urban India  . Being  perceived  as a Dalal Street & NRI focused Urban initiative government will be a short coming that the rural vote bank wont take lightly. If they do - it will be akin to squandering a strong mandate, a rarity in a ever fragmented polity of our democratic system.

There are many threats to freedom in the digital society. They include massive surveillance, censorship, digital handcuffs, nonfree software that controls users, and the War on Sharing. Other threats come from use of web services. Finally, we have no positive right to do anything in the Internet; every activity is precarious, and can continue only as long as companies are willing to cooperate with it.

Digital India must not be a mere buzz word. Wide Vision with social engineering moot to place India at a vantage with 2020 - 2030 in view point is the need of the hour. Systems Thinking of how inter related public utility components will enmesh delivery of egovernance must be a well though out essential service ushered sans any political contours. Before which - Government should address the elephant in the room - Net Neutrality !! and this need to be addressed NOW

Far better it is to dare mighty things , to win glorious triumphs even though chequeredby failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much , because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat

The reason goals are so hard to reach, many psychologists think, is because each person believes they are really two people: Present Me and Future Me. And to most people, Future Me is much less important than Present Me. Present Me is the CEO of Me Corp, while Future Me is a lowly clerk.
