Throughout this entire process, you may be feeling a mixture of excitement and fear. This is entirely normal – in fact, if you don't feel any anxiety, you may want to rethink your goal.

All positive change requires going beyond what you've done before so that you can achieve more than you ever have. You probably have felt anxious many times in the past while trying to jump-start your progress. The difference is that this time you are committed, and that means you're going through the anxiety instead of giving into it. 

Don't beat yourself up for feeling anxious. Instead, welcome your anxiety. Anxiety and fear are not bad—they just are. Sometimes by listening to the messages behind your anxiety, you can uncover limiting beliefs that have been with you for years and begin to make changes.

Many coaches call this process “coming out of your comfort zone.” Keep in mind, though, that this isn't a linear process where you move forward once and then never have to deal with anxiety again. Instead, you need to learn how to handle your anxiety and your limiting beliefs so that you can recognize, welcome and overcome them whenever they occur. If you're dealing with self-doubt, it's sometimes helpful to change your actions before you start using affirmations. Ask yourself how you would act if you believed you were capable of achieving your goal. You may want to make a list of your answers so that you can begin forming a new action plan.
