First let me say one of my favorite activities is going to bookstores with my wife. This goes a long way back--my own father owned a used-bookstore for 25 years. Sadly, Quarter Price Books was a joyless experience. Upon walking in the owner presented us with a coupon were we decide to purchase something. We must have spent 15-20 minutes inside--enough time to see the book stock wasn't that strong and books were overpriced (at least in history and the social sciences). I tried not to do the walk-in, walk-out, but also didn't attempt to overstay when I knew there was nothing for me. Upon walking out we thanked the owner, who then--yes--actually asked for the coupon back in a rude manner. I know times are hard for used bookstores--my Dad lost his--but there was no excuse for this. Whatever the case, we'll continue to be patrons at many local used bookstores but NOT Quarter Price Books.

I just called this place to see if they had a book I was searching for. The gentleman who answered the phone was so HELPFUL and NICE! Although I was looking for a classroom text book that he didn't carry, he thanked me for calling, thanked me for trying out his business!!! He asked if he could help me find anything else!! Such a nice man! Next time I am in need of any kind of book I will be at his place first!! Just want to say that more companies should treat people like this over the phone!

Whatever the occasion, getting lost in this bookshop for a day is worth it, I always leave feeling more intelligent than when I arrived.

I had a similar experience to the previous reviewer. I also love used book stores and will support local businesses when I can. However, when local businesses are run by assholes, then you have little to redeem for the experience. The book selection was ok. I appreciated some rare finds and recognized some pieces I have in my own collection. However, the store appeared more suitable for collectors rather than avid readers. Their selection is a bit sparse and unorganized. The whole store was filled with boxes and looked as though the owner had just moved in. I asked if he had, to which he replied, "psh...30 years ago." I no longer felt welcome in the store. I didn't want to be rude and just leave, but luckily my phone rang and provided an excuse to step outside. At that point the owner asked for his coupon back. I can't say that I was surprised. At that point I just wanted to get out and not come back. I'm sad to say that my experience was overall very unpleasant, but I can't think of one positive quality that outshines the bad ones. I do not recommend this store to anyone looking for a good read. This store is for those who enjoy dealing with crotchety old men

I have been coming to this Comic Book location for many years now and it is always a great honor in doing so. It's always exciting when you find the Comic Books that you are looking for that you need to complete your collections. Thank you so much for staying open over the years and for coming through for me,

This is my favorite book store. I find interesting books every time I go. Love talking to Larry and Gary they are great guys too. Thy have allot of books that are out of print and newer ones you just didn't want to pay full price for.
