THE SANDHILL
Wentworth, New South Wales, Australia

'The Perry Sandhills are located 6 km west of Wentworth, New South Wales, Australia, on the old Renmark Road, near the junction of the Murray and Darling rivers.

The sandhill cover an area of approximately 160 hectares (400 acres), and have been formed over the past 40,000 years by wind erosion. They are continually shifting due to the wind. As the sands move, evidence is periodically uncovered of prehistoric animals and Aboriginal use of the Sandhill area.' [Wikipedia] (2118)

CALM AND PICTURESQUE
Point Lonsdale, Victoria, Australia

How good is a lighthouse and a sunrise in the one image! The tide was out when I visited, leaving pools of water surrounded by plump water filled succulents. This calm and picturesque image belies how perilous this part of Victoria's coastline is, with 'The Rip' being one of the worlds most treacherous navigable passages. Thankfully the lighthouse and the local Port Phillip Sea Pilots have safely guided thousands of ships past this point since the mid 1800's. (2117)

AMAZING SPECTACULAR
Torquay, Victoria, Australia

I’m constantly amazed at how different every beach sunrise is, even at the same location. Depending on the time of year, the amount and density of the cloud cover and the reflections created by tide levels, the whole scene can be different. Even on the same morning, the colours change from blue at the first hint of sunrise, through to pink, red and even gold as the sun rises above the horizon. If you aren’t a morning person, you might be pleasantly surprised by an early morning trip to your local beach to see this amazing natural spectacular.

MEETING OF THE WATERS
Echuca, Victoria, Australia

'Echuca, an Aboriginal name meaning 'Meeting of the Waters', is indicative of the role rivers have played in the town's existence. Echuca is situated close to the junction of the Goulburn, Campaspe, and Murray Rivers. Its position at the closest point of the Murray to Melbourne contributed to its development as a thriving river port city during the 19th century.' [Wikipedia] (2115)

THE WALK IN
Lake Elizabeth, Victoria, Australia

'Head to Lake Elizabeth hidden deep in the Otways and discover its inspiring beauty with heavily timbered flanks and calm waters punctuated by the trunks of dead trees, drowned when the valley was flooded more than 50 years ago to form this 'perched lake'. The elusive platypus can be found in the waters of the lake - wake up early or head to Lake Elizabeth at dusk to catch a glimpse of these shy Australian natives.

The campground sits on the bank of the east branch of the Barwon River sheltered by tall Eucalypts trees. A scenic 20 minute walk takes you to Lake Elizabeth.' [parkweb.vic.gov.au] (2114)

I KEPT ON GOING
Pastoria, Victoria, Australia

I recently found myself driving past the end of a sealed road and heading into the hills on a gravel track. The morning was incredibly foggy, and the car was heading in the general direction, so I kept on going. My adventure turned out to be wonderful as I wound around and over hills, then past a pile of large boulders. I stopped and took this photo, along with a few others and was grateful to my car's navigation system for showing me an area of Victoria that I hadn't known existed. (2113)

ELIZABETH QUAY BRIDGE
Perth, Western Australia, Australia

'The 20-metre high suspension bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists and is an iconic architectural feature of the quay. The bridge forms part of the popular 'bridges' recreational route along the Swan River and provides a link between the promenades, the island and Barrack Street Jetty. Offering spectacular views towards the river and back to the city the bridge is a popular photo point for tourists and locals alike.' [mra.wa.gov.au] (2112)

UNUSUAL SHAPES
Wye River, Victoria, Australia

At eastern end of the beach at Wye River, there is a massive outcrop of rocks. They are amazing in their formation and surface appearance. Small pools of water are created by the receding tide in some of the near perfect round shapes. White sand surrounds the rocks and provides a smooth contrast to the unusual shapes of the once lava flows. (2111)

DOESN'T MATCH THE DESCRIPTION
The Gulch, Victoria, Australia

Wikipedia describes a gulch as 'In xeric lands, a gulch is a deep V-shaped valley formed by erosion. It may contain a small stream or dry creek bed and is usually larger in size than a gully. Sudden intense rainfall upstream may produce flash floods in the bed of the gulch.' The beach just south of Anglesea also bears this name, but doesn't in any way resemble the Wikipedia definition.
