5 stars because the food is excellent (being local we have eaten there before) minus 3 stars because the service is lacking and this evening (10/26/16) it was a disaster. After serving us water the waiter took 15 minutes or more to come back to our table and take our order, and only after we had complained. After noting that my 2-year old daughter was hungry and requesting a side dish for her in advance, there was no sign of the order for another 20 plus minutes. The manager said that their 'system' was down which made me incredulous - on a Wednesday night when the restaurant wasn't full - what has their electronic ordering system got to do with slow service and slow food preparation? Do they have web based apps to cook and serve their food or humans? I left without eating to get my daughter home for some food and my colleague brought the food home later free of charge thank you. One of the dishes they sent wasn't what we ordered. Calafia owners - you need to train your floor staff to be more transparent with us customers - and let them know when they walk in the door that service is slow that evening for whatever reason - so that we can make our own decision as to whether to stay or not.

Do not go ! Inexplicably bad service. Upon entering we were ignored at the host's podium, no hello no eye contact for an unconscionably long time. Finally my wife caught the attention of an older woman, probably the manager, and asked if there was a table for 3. She asked if we would care to dine outside. We said no as it was hot outside. We then went to the waiting area. I noticed that there were a number of empty tables scattered around which remained unoccupied for the 15 or twenty minutes we stayed waiting patiently. Anyway, when a couple came in the door and were quickly and very smilingly swept off to a table. At this point I went up to the lady manager and inquired with her as to whether the restaurant takes reservations. She said no and I asked why the couple who had just entered the restaurant were seated before us she could not give any reasonable reply. I then told her we would be leaving now and would never patronize this restaurant. She seemed nonchalantly unmoved until I told her that I would recommend that other people not patronize the place. My wife and I are a professional couple with a wonderful 13 year old daughter. We will not tolerate treatment of this sort and I hope that you do not either. I must say that it was kind of bizarre and unusual all the empty tables and such. All they had to do is normally acknowledge us as customers and offer normal reasonably friendly service. Instead, they seem to hew to some odd private agenda. Just so you will know.

The food is very tasty because they use the freshest ingredients and cook with care. My kale salad was dressed perfectly. The flavors from the cheese and the nuts and the cranberries blended perfectly. They cut/shredded the kale just so, to give the right textures to the salad. Leaves that are too large and rough is a common downfall for a kale salad. Won't happen at Calafia. Their mushroom garlic noodles is for garlic lovers. No, its for the garlic gourmand. Mushrooms cooked exactly to the right consistency. And every bite finishes with that slight wonderful garlic burn on the tongue. Ethereal!

Best place to have brunch and dinner. People who are working here always make sure you experience the best service as much as possible.

The ambient was great, and the food seems great, or so I thought before having to return my veggie burger (don't remember having done it in the past). The combination of a dry, gummy burger bread, the overly bitter arugula, plus the burnt oil smell that continuously came from the kitchen became the deal breaker. I think I had really bad luck...

A bit noisy, but delicious food. Loved the fried chicken wraps and the sole special. Great wine selection and 50% off bottles on Wednesday. Would have been even better sitting outside.

Good food and great people. Head on in to learn the true secret behind the Greek-sounding but really very North American name.
