My granddaughters and I went to LaGolondrina for lunch this last week. We watched as others were seated and their orders taken. And we still waited. I could not catch of eye of the waiters dismissing our table. We were totally ignored until one waiter came over. He was not assigned to our table, but gladly gave him our order. It took forever. I still left a tip . . .

Three of us had a very comfortable late lunch at Casa la Gonondrina on Dec 21, 2014. The service was excellent - attentive and responsive. We got a table in the location of our choice though nearly all tables were full. The food may not have been authentically Mexican but it was fine. Tasty, good portion size - not Tex-Mex. It didn't equal the fantastic flavors one encounters in Mexico. The price was completely fair: $73 for three people including drinks and tip.

Great cochinita pabil! Only reason it's not 5 stars is the cost. It's just a bit high.

So I'm writing this review to counter some of the negative reviews of La Golandrina I've seen. These are COMPLETELY CONTRARY to my own experiences. Four or five years ago we stumbled upon this place and were blown away. Now, it's a "must do" while in L.A. Summer 2014, still awesome. Lunch, quesadilla with carnitas, fresh bananna tortillas, real mexican margarita, friendly service, historic location... awesome again! This palce earns my highest recommendations.

TOURIST TRAP!! The steak fajitas were OK nothing to write home about, frozen margaritas had little to no alcohol in it I felt it was a waste of money. Place was kind of expensive, our server never came back after he took the order until he brought as the bill, had to ask other server's for water. They would not let us have our dog on the patio, had to tie the dog up in the walk way of the pedestrians.

Food seemed good until I got half way through my burrito and cut into some metal wire and lost my appetite. Not sure if this is a regular thing or not? They did take the burrito off my bill. Overall, I'd probably recommend going elsewhere.
