Three of us had a very comfortable late lunch at Casa la Gonondrina on Dec 21, 2014. The service was excellent - attentive and responsive. We got a table in the location of our choice though nearly all tables were full. The food may not have been authentically Mexican but it was fine. Tasty, good portion size - not Tex-Mex. It didn't equal the fantastic flavors one encounters in Mexico. The price was completely fair: $73 for three people including drinks and tip.

Food seemed good until I got half way through my burrito and cut into some metal wire and lost my appetite. Not sure if this is a regular thing or not? They did take the burrito off my bill. Overall, I'd probably recommend going elsewhere.

DON'T GO HERE! Worst place ever for authentic mexican food and worst service ever. Wait was ridiculous, food was like buying from grocery frozen food section and the beer they brought was warm. They overcharge you for everything our alcohol drinks which were mediocre cost more than our main meals and they charged us for salsa and chips that we didn't order and thought were on the house as most authentic restaurants are when you sit down. Waitress forgot about you and took forever when you did catch her getting what you asked for took another 10-15 minutes. But the wait getting in was what should of just given it away they told us it would be 15 minutes and took 1 hour to get seated. Do not waste your time or money i could of gone to King Taco and received better food, better service and worth my money and that is a fast food restaurant not a nice restaurant like La Golondrina Cafe should be.. P.S. two of the orders we ordered they didn't have and they mixed up our orders and on the way out they dropped a platter of salsa on our feet..

Great cochinita pabil! Only reason it's not 5 stars is the cost. It's just a bit high.

So I'm writing this review to counter some of the negative reviews of La Golandrina I've seen. These are COMPLETELY CONTRARY to my own experiences. Four or five years ago we stumbled upon this place and were blown away. Now, it's a "must do" while in L.A. Summer 2014, still awesome. Lunch, quesadilla with carnitas, fresh bananna tortillas, real mexican margarita, friendly service, historic location... awesome again! This palce earns my highest recommendations.

Absolutely horrible service and food. The chicharrones were so burnt they were inedible. The trout took almost 30 minutes to arrive and it was somr sort of orange colored tasteless meat w a bunch of onions and tomatoes piled on top. Should have just gone to McDonald's for cheap nasty food. Took the waiter 10 mins to bring us lime for our beer. Will never come back. Even if the food were free and I was starving!!! Overly priced!!!!
