The creator of Javascript wants to disrupt the online advertising industry with a new browser. Seems farfetched.
Brendan Eich remade the web. Now he wants to change how online advertising works with a browser that decides which ads are best.

Não surpreenderia muito...

“We’re moving to a world where there will be vastly more wealth and vastly less work,” said Erik Brynjolfsson, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor and co-author of “The Second Machine Age”, a book on how new modern technologies are transforming industries. “That shouldn’t be a bad thing, and shame on us if we turn it into a bad thing.”
Artificial intelligence will spur economic growth and create new wealth. Machines that “think” like humans will help solve huge problems, from curing cancer to climate change. Yet millions of human workers will need to retrain, as robots make their

Microsoft has tested a prototype of a self-contained data center that can operate hundreds of feet below the surface of the ocean, eliminating one of the technology industry’s most expensive problems: the air-conditioning bill.
Microsoft sank a data center on the ocean floor, where the sea water acts as a coolant, and plans to use the waves to power it. The results were encouraging enough to try a bigger version.

"I once met a sales executive at a company that made “voice-directed applications” for warehouse workers. His pitch: when people are picking 200 items an hour, even tiny improvements in their speed, such as not having to glance down at a handheld computer for the next instruction, accumulate into substantial gains."
When it comes to the future of work, nothing inspires more fear or fascination than the idea that robots could supplant humans. Yet whenever I hear people fret about machines taking our jobs, I think of Set Sar from Rhode Island, and I wonder if we

The reason IBM can tackle these projects is the reason it was able to invent punch cards, and the hard drive, and everything else: patient, methodical and precise scientific research. IBM spent $5.5 billion on research and development in 2014 alone, and unlike with some of the modern tech giants, there’s no pomp and circumstance around each newly launched “project,”
In its labs in upstate New York, Big Blue is working on projects that could change the world—but will IBM be around long enough to see them through?
