A new study finds that having "executive presence" is about 26% of what it takes to get promoted into leadership positions. It's defined as having gravitas, communication skills and a polished appearance. Why is this illusive characteristic so important? Do you have it, and how do you know it when you see it?

- Amazing article!!! I'd never heard of "executive presence", but I have it for sure! The funny thing is, as a woman of color, I've heard on more than one occasion that I'm intimidating. I know other women of color who've heard the same thing. I wonder how many women, regardless of ethnicity, experience backlash for having "executive presence?"Oct 29, 2012
- Of course it matters. If it s'not natural, then one has to take courses to develop executive presence. Attitudes are as important as skills.tx Jenna for this point.Oct 31, 2012
