Went to Village Whiskey for lunch with a client, and we enjoyed a three meal. The cocktails are a pleasure, and the foie gras burger is delicious. Didn't get to try the whiskey, but definitely will next time.

Probably the least outwardly "high-end" of Jose Garcas' restaurants in Philly. Not cheap, but not as expensive as Distrito, Tinto, etc. though if you are a serious whisky drinker I'm sure your bar tab adds up fast. My friend and I got burgers, and seriously spent the next two days talking about how they were the best burgers we've ever had, hands down. I practically licked the juice off my plate. We also had cheese fries with some kind of roast beef on them that was incredible.

The burgers here are amazing. Make sure to get the ones with the fried egg. Also good to try the duck fat pom frittes. The buns are specially toasted. It's got a nice romantic decor and is always popular.

Not cheap, but worth it is you are a Whisky "phile". I found many whisky's that I have never even heard about anywhere else. Bar food is really decent too. Somewhat unique offerings make for a nice after work bite and drink. The whisky pours are generous, and the staff are eager to please. I had a great time, and will absolutely be back.

We had a great time last night at Village Whiskey. We got there at 5:30 on a Friday night. The wait was "up to 45 minutes" for an inside table, but outside tables were available. So we took an outside table for drinks and appetizers, and then (at our request) they moved us inside when a table opened up so that we could have dinner inside. The selling point of VW is that they sell 1oz "tasters" of all their (impressive) liquors, as well as the normal 2oz size. So my wife and I each enjoyed two tasters over the course of our dinner, allowing us to enjoy four quality drinks. The food is very well done. It's pretty standard bar fare, but surprisingly tasty. A $12 burger was significantly better than what you'd get at the chain restaurants, and the appetizers were excellent. Who knew tater tots could balance crispness and softness so well? It's totally worth going for dinner, not just drinks. I'm glad we did. The real standout was the service. It's not the kind of place where the waiters stop to chat; they're always moving. But they're always available, swinging by the table every 10 to 15 minutes so that you can order more drinks or ask for stuff. Again, don't look for a long conversation with them, but expect to experience prompt, courteous, and efficient interaction. I think the word is "professional." It's not a super-fancy joint or an elegant experience for your anniversary dinner. But for a good time, a fantastic meal, and more varieties of alcohol than you can shake a stick at, go to Village Whiskey! Seriously. Go. :)

Is probably go there just for the picked cauliflower and the drinks, but I bet the rest of the stuff is just as good.
