I bought this book, about a year ago in print. Right now, it would be very convenient for me if I could read it on my iPad or Kindle. Where can I download it for free?

There is an electronic version of the book. Should I look in “pirate” sites for it? I mean, I’ve already paid the author and the publisher, the price they asked for it…

You paid the price of the product. You should be able to read it anywhere you want.-

You don't pay twice for the same car to be able to drive it at different cities.

Books, movies, music and software are different from cars. When you buy a car you own it. It's yours and you can do with it anything you want. When you buy software, music, movies and books, in most cases, you just get a "license" to use the product in specific ways. Disassembling your own car is perfectly legal. Disassembling software is often not. Similarly, it is often illegal to broadcast music and movies. Books are somewhere up there too. Gotta love Open Source and Creative Commons. :)
