Give local, America! Celebrate giving on May 3 by joining @iGiveLocal16. It is a national day of giving set aside to help local communities. Humanity Road, located in Boydton, Virginia, is participating in the Give Local America 2016 campaign to raise funds for our Disaster Response Program.
This year, Humanity Road has launched a new way to give. Through text-to-donate, folks can donate from their mobile phone. You can text the word "HUMANITY" to 41444 to make a pledge to support us. ^cb

The Statewide Tornado Drill is underway. Listen for a test message on your NOAA Weather Radio or local Emergency Alert System broadcast station. Seek shelter where you would go during an actual tornado warning. It's important to practice so you will know what to do in a real event. THIS IS ONLY A TEST

Around 9am local Brussels time (4am eastern) The Humanity Road team activated in response to a series of explosions in Brussels. Here is a current summary. At this stage the airport is closed until 6am Wednesday morning. All flights from Brussels have been cancelled and inbound flights are diverted. All airport operations have been suspended. Contact your airline for more information about your flight. People unable to contact relatives traveling in the area should get in touch with their consulate.

- Facebook: has also activated their safety check.

Many wifi hotspots have been opened to use a free service in order to try and free up the phone lines. Cellphone networks are congested, and we advise folks to use text messaging and keep phone lines clear for emergency responders. Multiple suspicious packages have been reported. The Prime Minister is asking for everyone in Brussels to stay where they are and shelter in place.
